X Launches Creator Subscriptions 2.0 With Exclusive Threads, Paid Partnership Labels
X has rolled out Creator Subscriptions 2.0, introducing a set of new monetization and transparency tools for creators on the platform.
The centerpiece of the update is Exclusive Threads, which allows creators to lock portions of a post thread behind a subscription paywall. Creators can tease content in a parent post visible to all users, then reserve the remainder of the thread for paying subscribers, who can subscribe directly within the conversation rather than being redirected to an external site or newsletter. Subscriber-only content will now appear in a creator’s main profile feed rather than a separate Subscriptions tab.
X also overhauled the subscriptions setup process, reducing it to two steps and speeding up application review times. A new dashboard gives creators a consolidated view of earnings, subscriber insights, and built-in growth tools. Creators can also generate a shareable Subscriptions card to promote their offerings directly on the platform. The subscription paywall itself has been refreshed to surface benefits upfront for prospective subscribers.
“We are doubling down on creators, the platform’s most influential experts, thought leaders, and voices, by investing in tools that enable sustainable incomes and deeper connections with their audiences,” said Allegra Jacchia, Creators Product at X. “We believe creators deserve to be compensated for the value, knowledge, and perspectives they bring to the platform, and a big part of that is enabling them to monetize their most loyal supporters directly.”
Alongside the subscriptions update, X formally announced a “Paid Partnership” label for posts where content is paid for or incentivized by a third party. The label appears below the post’s content and can be added after publishing. X’s existing Paid Partnerships Policy remains unchanged.
