TikTok Rolls Out New Tools To Protect Creators From Harassment

TikTok is introducing new features designed to help creators manage unwanted comments, ensure content guideline compliance, and better engage with their communities. The platform aims to create a safer environment for content creation while providing tools for professional growth.

Creator Harassment

TikTok announces Creator Care Mode, a one-click solution that automatically filters comments identified as offensive, inappropriate, or profane. The feature uses AI that adapts to each creator’s preferences based on their past behavior of reporting or deleting comments.

For livestreaming creators, TikTok has introduced a new mute feature for TikTok LIVE, enabling hosts and moderators to bulk mute specific words, phrases, and emojis. Comments containing these elements will not appear in the chat, and users who post them will be muted for a creator-determined duration.

“When creators feel protected and safe, they can share their stories freely, push creative boundaries and connect meaningfully with their audiences,” Adam Presser, Head of Operations and Trust & Safety at TikTok, said in the announcement.

Content Compliance Tools

The platform is rolling out Content Check Lite through TikTok Studio on the web, allowing creators to pre-screen their content for For You feed eligibility before posting. When a similar tool was implemented for TikTok Shop sellers, the platform observed a 27% reduction in low-quality uploads.

TikTok is also testing a broader Content Check feature with a small pilot group of creators. This expanded tool will enable creators to verify their content against all Community Guidelines before publishing, helping ensure compliance with platform rules.

Creator-Community Connections

For improved message management, TikTok introduces Creator Inbox, a professional inbox experience featuring organizational tools such as Unread and Starred folders. The system also supports custom responses and quick replies to streamline creator communications.

Creator Chat Room, another new feature currently rolling out, provides a dedicated space for eligible creators to interact directly with followers. Creators with at least 10,000 followers and either a Subscription or LIVE Fan Club can create up to 20 chat rooms, each capped at 300 participants.

These creator features arrive as TikTok implements broader platform changes, including updated Terms of Service for European and UK users effective July 25, 2025, which introduce stricter content moderation policies and enhanced user safety measures amid increased regulatory scrutiny in those regions.
