Patreon Reports Podcasters Earned $629M on Platform in 2025, Up 33% Y-o-Y
Patreon reports that podcasters earned more than $629 million on its platform in 2025, a 33% year-over-year increase that made podcasting the highest-earning creator category on the platform for the second consecutive year.
The figures reflect growth on both the creator and fan side. More than 47,000 podcasters are now active on the platform, supported by 7.6 million paid memberships.

Patreon attributed the earnings growth to a direct-to-fan model in which podcasters build revenue through paid memberships rather than advertising. According to the company, the most successful podcasters on the platform are building full ecosystems around their work, offering bonus episodes, extended cuts, ad-free listening, exclusive series, live experiences, and real-time community engagement.
Patreon has expanded partnerships with major media players and deepened integrations with platforms like Spotify to help creators convert listeners into paying fans.

Niche Communities as a Business Foundation
Patreon said podcasting on its platform is less about broad genres and more about subculture communities. The company pointed to shows across fashion, film, true crime, pop culture, and reality television as examples of creators building engaged, paying audiences around shared interests.
In fashion, shows like “The Cutting Room Floor” and “Throwing Fits” have built audiences around trend conversations. In film, “Blank Check,” “Quentin Tarantino’s Video Archives,” and “We Hate Movies” have turned fandom into ongoing engagement through bonus series, deep dives, and live shows. True crime shows “RedHanded,” “True Crime Obsessed,” and “Criminal” have created communities around collaborative mystery solving, while pop culture shows “Good Noticings” and “Who Weekly,” and reality television recaps like “2 Black Girls,” “1 Rose,” “Reality Gays,” and “Watch What Crappens” have converted casual listeners into active community members.

Multimedia Creator Businesses
Patreon described podcasting as the backbone of broader multimedia creator businesses rather than a standalone format. Podcasters on the platform are working across video, newsletters, short-form posts, and livestreams to stay connected with fans. Patreon said it is building tools that allow podcasters to manage their media, business, and community from a single platform.
The company said it offers native podcasting tools for managing multiple shows, the ability to host free and paid episodes, new ways to package and sell episodes, ad-free livestreaming, and newsletters.
Platform Outlook
Patreon said the growth it is observing reflects a broader shift in podcasting away from advertising-dependent and algorithm-driven models toward businesses built on direct fan relationships. The company noted that it only generates revenue when creators do, and that its product development is oriented around helping creators grow.
Patreon said it continues to expand its discovery tools to help fans find and connect across the platform.
