Landen Purifoy’s Crescendo From Lockdown Boredom To Content Creation Fame And 18M+ Followers

Ping-pong balls bouncing off pots and pans create melodies that captivate millions. This isn’t a quirky kitchen experiment — it’s the world of c, a content creator with a music niche on social media.

With over 18 million followers hanging on his every note, the 24-year-old is turning passion into a thriving career in the creator economy.

From pandemic-induced boredom to partnering with tech giants like Sony, Landen showcases how consistency can transform fleeting viral moments into lasting success.

Tune in to Landen’s exclusive interview with Net Influencer to feel the rhythm of his rise and discover the beats that shaped his digital symphony.

Engineering Sound into Social Media Success

Landen’s passion for music began early in life. He studied commercial music at a community college in Plano, Texas, focusing on audio engineering and the industry’s business side.

“Everything that I learned there, I use every day,” he notes, despite not directly using his degree in his current career.

Starting his content creation journey in the summer of 2020, Landen has quickly built a following with his unique approach to music-related content.

“I try to make music-related content that anybody can enjoy, no matter if they care about music or not,” he says.

His strategy aims to appeal to a broad audience, from dedicated musicians to casual viewers.

The COVID-19 lockdown provided the catalyst for Landen’s content creation. What began as daily piano performances on Instagram stories turned into a consistent TikTok presence.

“I just kept making a video every day. It wasn’t even all about music,” he explains, describing his early experimentation with content.

Landen’s breakthrough came with piano tutorials, particularly one featuring the Call of Duty Zombies theme

However, it was his clever use of the talk box effect that propelled him to viral status.

“I made videos that let people put their speaker from their cell phone to their mouth. And if you were watching my video, you could [mouth] the words on the screen, and it would sound like you’re playing a real talk box instrument,” he describes.

These videos consistently garnered millions of views, establishing Landen’s unique niche on social media.

The Rhythm of Creation

With a presence across multiple platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube (Shorts and long-form videos), Landen maintains a rigorous schedule to keep his content pipeline flowing.

“I’m a pretty scheduled person,” Landen tells us.

His week is meticulously planned, with each day dedicated to specific tasks. “Mondays, I come up with all my video ideas for the week. I don’t film anything on Mondays,” he says.

The planning day is crucial for series like his popular “Emoji Challenge” videos, which require careful consideration of visual and audio elements.

Tuesdays are reserved for filming and editing, while Wednesdays are dedicated to planning long-form YouTube content.

Landen’s content often revolves around creating music from unconventional sources.

“My whole thing is making music from anything,” he states.

The concept has turned into various series, including musical trick shots. “I have a ping pong ball, and I am bouncing [it] off of pots and pans that have different tones, and it will make a melody for some song,” Landen describes.

While the content creator doesn’t employ drastically different strategies for each platform, he does adjust posting times.

His long-form YouTube content, a recent focus, aims for weekly uploads but often settles into a biweekly rhythm due to his travel schedule.

Collaborative Harmonies

One of Landen’s memorable collaborations was with the “Traffic Cone Sax Man” at VidCon.

“We did an Emoji challenge video together, which was super fun,” Landen recalls.

This unexpected pairing of Landen’s music-making with the saxophonist’s distinctive style resulted in a unique performance that resonated with viewers.

Another significant collaboration was with Krizz Kaliko, a multi-genre artist.

“I worked with Krizz on a song. I played talk box on it, but he came over, and we also made an Emoji Challenge video for that,” Landen says.

Landen is excited about upcoming collaborations, including one with “edutainment” creator Hafu Go, showcasing his willingness to explore diverse partnerships.

When it comes to brand collaborations, Landen’s approach is pragmatic yet aligned with his niche. “I like to know the product,” he states.

Despite the challenge of incorporating music into various product promotions, Landen remains open to diverse opportunities, saying, “As long as I like the brand and it’s not too far outside of what I can do for them, I’m okay with working with lots of brands.”

As for his dream collaboration, Landen is targeting CG5, a prominent YouTube music artist. “I think our audiences like the music they appreciate, and they align,” he notes.

How the Sony Partnership Amplified Landen’s Digital Presence

Landen’s journey to becoming a Sony Audio Ambassador began unexpectedly with a simple social media interaction.

“I was scrolling through TikTok when I came across the video about one of these Sony Alpha series cameras,” Landen recounts.

His casual comment led to an email from Sony inviting him to discuss a new initiative.

This unforeseen connection resulted in Landen joining Sony’s audio ambassador program. “They were making this ambassador program… for audio, and they wanted to know if I’d be a part of it,” he explains.

Now in its second year, the partnership has provided Landen with unique experiences and opportunities.

He expresses his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Sony’s an amazing family. I’ve never worked with anybody that’s treated us as well as Sony has.”

Crafting Tomorrow’s Trends

Maintaining and growing his 18-million-strong audience presents unique challenges for Landen, particularly in content development.

“The biggest challenge is you come up with a really good concept, and it works, and it gets a lot of views, and you’re making those kind of videos for a long time, but eventually you can’t just make those forever,” Landen explains.

The creator acknowledges the difficulty of consistently generating fresh, engaging content.

“Eventually, the videos that you’re making will probably start getting a decrease in views, and people are just tired of them,” he tells us.

To address this, Landen adopts a proactive approach. “I’m always thinking of the next thing,” he says, citing his transition from Emoji Challenge videos to musical trick shots as an example of his content evolution strategy.

Landen also emphasizes the importance of community engagement in his success. He maintains a positive space in his comment sections and actively involves his audience in content decisions.

“I like to ask them what song they want. I want them to have a say in the videos,” he states.

While recent travel commitments have limited his live streaming, Landen recognizes its value in fostering community connections.

“My livestream was a great spot. That’s where I like to engage with my community the most,” he reflects, indicating a desire to reincorporate this element into his content strategy.

Charting the Course

Drawing from his successful journey as a content creator, Landen offers advice to new musicians and creators. His primary recommendation centers on consistency.

“The main thing I tell everybody is to be consistent,” the social media star emphasizes.

He advocates for daily content creation, even in the face of other commitments, suggesting strategies like batch-creating content to maintain a regular posting schedule.

Landen highlights the dual benefits of consistency: algorithmic favor and accelerated learning.

“You learn from every video you make,” he explains how creators can refine their approach by comparing successful and underperforming content.

Looking to the future, Landen has set goals for himself.

“My big goal right now is 10 million on YouTube,” he shares, projecting to reach this milestone by October.

Beyond subscriber marks, Landen aims to expand his collaborative efforts, particularly in the music industry.

“I haven’t gotten into the actual music industry,” he notes, expressing interest in featuring his talk box skills on other artists’ tracks.

Additionally, Landen plans to bolster his presence in long-form YouTube content.
