Podcast Fever Hits The East Coast This Spring: Creators Invited To Attend PRX Summits

PRX, a public media organization, nonprofit podcast publisher, and public radio distributor, has announced the Podcast Creator Summit. This series of multi-day events in Washington, D.C., and Atlanta aims to support podcasters early in their journeys by offering a robust creative community.

The Washington, D.C. summit, co-hosted by NPR member station WAMU, runs from May 15 through May 17.

“Calling all aspiring podcasters in D.C.! Don’t miss out on the @PRX Podcast Creator Summit, happening May 15-17 at @WAMU885. Get ready for three days packed with workshops, mentoring, and networking opportunities,” PRX states on X.

Podcasters of all experience levels can sign up for free in-person seminars, talks, training, and networking opportunities spanning the art, business, and production of audio.

Dates for the Atlanta summit in June will be announced later. Both summits welcome creators seeking to learn, network, share skills, and foster collaboration within the blossoming audio community.

“We’ve experienced both Washington, D.C. and Atlanta as hotbeds of creativity and bright for continued audio community-making,” says Stephanie Kuo, VP of Content at PRX. “Whether you’re a pro with tips to share or just getting started and looking for help, the Podcast Creator Summit will deliver value.”

PRX brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience activating spaces for audio storytellers. Past initiatives include the Google Podcasts creator program, the PRX Journalism Podcast Accelerator, the Ready to Learn podcast accelerator, and a collaboration with the Baraza Media Lab in Nairobi, Kenya.

For two decades, the organization has earned recognition from the Peabody Awards, Tribeca Festival, International Documentary Association, and others, including the 2022 Pulitzer Prize won jointly with Futuro Media.

“We’re proud of our extensive experience activating space for audio creators and storytellers of all experience levels to learn, network, skill-share, and inspire collaboration,” Kuo states.

Podcasting’s popularity continues rising, creating opportunities for both established and aspiring creators. PRX’s Podcast Creator Summits offer a chance for this fast-growing community to convene, gain skills, and propel the medium forward together.

“This is a great opportunity to mingle with fellow podcast creators and learn tips and tricks on the art, business, and production of audio from podcast experts based in the DMV,” the podcast publisher wrote on LinkedIn.

As an NPR station licensed to American University, co-host WAMU provides vital local and national journalism to over one million listeners in the nation’s capital region.
