Meta is testing a new feature called “Series” for Reels on Instagram and Facebook, the company told TechCrunch, allowing creators to bundle new and old videos into organized episodic collections with a dedicated hub on their profile.

Select creators can now group individual Reels into a series, with each video serving as an episode within a broader narrative. The series appears in a new tab on the creator’s profile, giving viewers a single destination to find all episodes, watch them in order, and resume where they left off. 

For the testing phase, Meta is working with select creators and content producers who have already shared serialized content on its platforms.

How Series Works

When users encounter an episode while scrolling their feed or the Reels tab, they see an option to access the full series and browse other episodes. Users can also save a series to watch later or stay up to date with new episodes.

Meta told TechCrunch it is already observing serialized content gaining traction on its platforms, and the feature aims to make it easier for viewers to keep up. A creator running a “10 days of healthier baking” series, for example, can bundle all 10 videos into a single collection with its own page, where all episodes are available in sequence.

Monetization and Competition

Meta said it is considering ways to monetize the feature, but did not share specifics. TikTok launched a comparable Series feature in 2023, which allows creators to place premium content collections behind a paywall that viewers can purchase. Meta has not indicated whether it plans a similar approach.
