GameSquare Relaunches Stream Hatchet as AI-Driven Creator Marketing Platform
GameSquare Holdings has rebranded its livestreaming measurement platform Stream Hatchet into “Hatchet,” a broader creator marketing analytics service built for youth culture and gaming.
As reported by Variety, the retooled platform combines creator discovery, campaign tracking and ROI measurement with a new tool called “AI Smart Search,” which lets users describe a target creator in plain language and have that intent translated into search criteria. GameSquare said the platform now draws on 10 years of measurement data covering more than 50 million creators across over 30 platforms, expanding beyond its original livestreaming focus to pull data from TikTok Live, Twitter/X and Instagram alongside Twitch, YouTube and Kick. Hatchet counts Electronic Arts and NASCAR among its clients.
Other additions include audience overlap and chat sentiment search filters, YouTube paid-versus-organic view identification, and a “Creator Community” hub for managing rosters, briefing creators and tracking campaigns in one place.
“What we are doing with Hatchet is truly unique. This is not a generic tool being retrofitted to gaming. It is a full-service proposition backed by the entire GameSquare ecosystem,” GameSquare CEO Justin Kenna told Variety. “The goal here is to help brands live and thrive at the center of a core aspect of youth culture, gaming.”
Hatchet Director of Product Alessandra Pinto said the platform is designed to move brands “from reactive discovery” toward continuous, self-tuning insight. “Brands and publishers need an extension of their team, one that is continuously learning from performance patterns, surfacing opportunities, and tuning itself to their needs,” she told Variety, adding that AI is meant to narrow large data sets into decision-ready insight rather than replace human judgment.
The rebrand extends a creator-technology buildout GameSquare has pursued since acquiring TubeBuddy, a YouTube optimization and workflow platform, from BENlabs in February. That deal, structured as an asset purchase paid in GameSquare preferred stock, brought in a tool serving more than 10 million YouTube creators. GameSquare said at the time that TubeBuddy would expand its first-party creator data and open integration opportunities across its media, esports and creator businesses, the same ecosystem Kenna cited in describing Hatchet.
GameSquare’s history with FaZe Clan has had a rockier run: the esports organization went public in 2022 at a roughly $1 billion valuation before falling to penny-stock status, while the FaZe creator business later separated from GameSquare. Its entire influencer roster departed on Christmas Day 2025 after contract negotiations with the investment firm HardScope collapsed.
