Alo Yoga Taps Actor-Singer-Racer Wang Yibo as Global Brand Ambassador

Alo Yoga has named Chinese actor, singer and racer Wang Yibo as its newest global brand ambassador, continuing the Los Angeles-based wellness brand’s push to build celebrity-driven marketing in China.

As reported by WWD, the move follows Alo’s launch of Chinese K-pop star Ningning, of the girl group Aespa, as a brand ambassador and its tapping of Chinese celebrity Rosy Zhao to front the launch of its official Tmall store. “From the stage to the racetrack and rock climbing, Wang Yibo has consistently expressed his passions through action,” Alo said in a statement. “It’s Wang’s attentiveness to the body and mind, whether in movement or stillness, that naturally aligns with Alo’s philosophy of wellness.”

Wang is featured in an off-duty campaign built around the brand’s “studio-to-street” positioning, wearing the Alpha Shell jacket, Co-Op pants and the Voyage Duffle, a luxury handbag the brand introduced last year. “I look forward to exploring more balanced ways of approaching life with the brand,” Wang said. Alo said he will take part in local brand initiatives and events, working with the company to extend its athleisure positioning beyond the gym to include recovery.

The ambassador announcement lands alongside a broader e-commerce and retail push in China. Alo opened its official Tmall store last month, giving it access to the platform’s more than 62 million 88VIP customers, Alibaba’s high-spending shopper tier, and it has opened its events-booking platform on “WeChat Mini Program.” The brand is also planning shopping mall hoardings this month in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Hong Kong as part of what the company has described as a cautious offline expansion.

The ambassador strategy mirrors a marketing approach Alo has run in other international markets this year. In May, the brand chartered a 72-meter superyacht along the French Riviera as an invitation-only influencer activation timed to the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix, drawing more than 500 models and influencers with a combined social following exceeding 6.5 million. That campaign, paired with new boutiques in Saint-Tropez and Cannes and a flagship under construction on the Champs-Élysées, positioned high-profile talent and market-specific activations as a lead vehicle for expansion outside the U.S. The Riviera push also drew public criticism online over its exclusivity.
