Audacy Becomes Smosh’s Exclusive Podcast Sales and Distribution Partner

Audio company Audacy has signed a multi-year deal to become the exclusive sales and distribution partner for Smosh‘s podcast slate. The partnership, which begins October 1, covers advertising sales and distribution across Smosh’s current podcast lineup, with additional video and podcast opportunities expected to follow.

Under the agreement, Audacy will handle sales and distribution for “Smosh Mouth,” which brings together comedians reacting to internet culture, “Smosh Reads Reddit Stories,” an unscripted commentary series hosted by Shayne Topp, and “Assumptions,” which brings on guests from misunderstood subcultures and unconventional lifestyles to address stereotypes. A fourth show in the slate titled “URL” follows hosts Courtney Miller and Chanse McCrary as they examine how guests’ digital habits shaped who they are.

“Smosh’s podcasts are a core piece of our broader content strategy and an important way for us to connect with our growing audience,” said Alessandra Catanese, CEO of Smosh. “As we continue to invest in this part of our business, Audacy brings unmatched advertising and distribution. Partnering with them also enhances our ability to bring larger, more creatively ambitious projects to life.”

Smosh, founded in 2005 by Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox as one of YouTube’s earliest sketch comedy channels, has grown into an independent comedy studio with more than 75 million social media followers and 20 billion YouTube views. The company is represented by WME and Hansen Jacobson.

“Smosh didn’t just break out as a brand on YouTube; they helped write the playbook for what creator-led entertainment could become,” said Leah Reis-Dennis, Head of Podcasts at Audacy. “They’ve built an extraordinary, deeply engaged community over the last 20 years by both evolving their content and staying true to what their audience loves. Bringing Smosh into the Audacy network is a significant opportunity for us to expand our video capabilities, give advertisers access to one of the most influential creator brands in the space, and help Smosh continue to grow across audio, video, and beyond.”
