WME Signs YouTube Horror Filmmaker Evan Royalty Amid ‘SCP’ Franchise Buzz

WME has signed Evan Muir, the filmmaker and digital creator known professionally as “Evan Royalty,” with plans to expand his work into film, television, and original IP development, per Deadline.

Muir is among the most prominent filmmakers working within the “SCP” universe, a YouTube horror phenomenon built around the online lore of the SCP Foundation, a fictional organization that covertly contains threats to humanity. The mythology originated as a “creepypasta,” a genre of user-generated horror fiction that spread through internet forums including 4chan, in the same tradition that produced Kane Parsons’ Backrooms franchise.

Since launching his YouTube channel in 2012, Muir has built what Deadline described as the largest and most engaged audience of any cinematic “SCP” creator, drawing more than 779,000 subscribers and nearly 70 million lifetime views through adaptations including “SCP: First Contact,” “SCP: Dollhouse,” and “SCP: Overlord.”

The signing lands as Hollywood pursues creator-driven horror properties more aggressively, with “SCP” specifically drawing new industry interest. Producers Roy Lee and Steven Schneider recently announced a V/H/S anthology film set within the “SCP” universe, a project separate from Muir’s own work but indicative of the franchise’s rising commercial profile.

WME’s representation deal positions Muir to move beyond his existing YouTube slate into television and film development, though no specific projects were disclosed.
