Social Commerce Holdings Unifies Conference, Media, and Membership Properties Under Single Brand

Social Commerce Holdings has consolidated its event, media, and research properties under one brand name, SoCom, the company announced via Social Commerce News. The move includes the acquisition of assets belonging to the SoCom conference, folding its brand equity, industry relationships and community into an operation Social Commerce Holdings has been building through an expanding event series and year-round media coverage.

SoCom will now serve as both the company’s umbrella name and the identity of its live events, adding membership, mentorship and industry recognition programs alongside the existing news, research and podcast properties. New branding and websites for the unified platform are expected to roll out soon.

“The acquisition is an important part of this story, but the bigger story is where SoCom is going,” said Stuart Johnson, founder and CEO of Social Commerce Holdings. “We have been building a broader platform for the social commerce economy from the beginning. Bringing these assets and community together under SoCom gives us an opportunity to accelerate that work and create a stronger, more connected platform for the people and companies shaping this economy.”

The rebrand feeds directly into the company’s near-term event schedule: SoCom LA runs October 14 to 15 at Westdrift Manhattan Beach, followed by SoCom New York on November 10 at Sony Hall in Times Square. Earlier events this year took place in Los Angeles, New York City and Salt Lake City. The company said its 2027 calendar will expand into Miami, Los Angeles, New York, London and Hawaii.

“This is about building something that serves the social commerce economy year-round and across markets,” said David Vanderveen, strategic advisor and podcast host at Social Commerce News. “Our goal is to create a platform where the channel can connect, learn and share what is working and help shape what comes next.”

The SoCom Live event series originated with Max Benator and Lauren Stevens, whose Orca agency was later acquired and folded into Third Commerce. Under the new arrangement, Benator and Stevens will be recognized as SoCom Live Founders in acknowledgment of their role in building the brand and community, and both will remain connected to SoCom through a multi-year relationship covering sponsorship, visibility and participation.

“We created one of the must-attend events in social commerce,” said Benator, founder of SoCom and strategic advisor at Third. “Now under Stuart’s leadership, SoCom has the dedicated focus of a world-class trade events team. Moreover, we’re thrilled to continue our role as a key partner in the conference for years to come.”
