Discord Launches Self-Serve Ads Manager, Adds Rewarded Video Ad Format

Discord has announced the launch of “Discord Ads Manager,” a self-serve advertising platform, and “Video Quests,” a new performance-focused rewarded video ad format, giving businesses of all sizes new ways to reach the platform’s base of more than 90 million daily active users as of Q2 2026.

Ads Manager is Discord’s first campaign management platform, consolidating forecasting, objective-based bid building, and performance reporting into a single self-service tool. Discord said the offering extends access to smaller studios and marketers who previously needed a direct sales relationship to advertise on the platform. Campaigns run on an auction-based delivery model with dynamic pricing rather than a fixed CPM, letting advertisers adjust bids in real time against down-funnel metrics. The platform is currently available with managed access for a select group of advertisers, with fully self-serve access planned for early 2027.

Video Quests is a mobile-first rewarded ad format in which players tap, watch, and earn Discord’s in-platform currency, Orbs, receiving a reward after roughly 15 seconds of viewing. The format is designed to give advertisers a stronger read on intent based on watch time. Discord’s original Video Quests product, introduced last year, is being renamed “Video Quests Reserve” and repositioned as a premium, reservation-based option for high-impact brand moments tied to full video completion.

“We want advertising on Discord to work for a studio launching its first game just as well as it does for the world’s biggest advertisers,” said Nabib El-Rahman, Discord’s VP of Product, Business. “Discord Ads Manager puts more control directly in advertisers’ hands, while Video Quests give performance marketers a format that turns attention into action through an experience that feels native to Discord.”

Discord said its original Quests format has delivered a 97% median ad completion rate, with game studios using it to lift game discovery, according to internal company data from June 30, 2026.

The launch extends a shift that began in April 2024, when Discord first said it would introduce advertising through its “Sponsored Quest” system, targeting users by gameplay habits, age, and location after relying solely on its “Nitro” subscription tier since the platform’s 2015 founding. That initial move followed Discord’s decision to remain independent after reported acquisition talks with Microsoft in 2021 and a subsequent $500 million raise at a $15 billion valuation. The latest development signifies the company’s broadest attempt yet to turn that advertising experiment into a scaled, self-service revenue channel open to advertisers beyond its largest partners.
