American Film Market Adds Dedicated Creator Economy Panel to New Opening-Day Summit

The American Film Market announced that its inaugural New Global Screen Economy Summit, opening AFM’s 47th edition on November 10 in Los Angeles, will include a panel built specifically around Creator Economy discovery and audience-building, alongside its film finance and production-incentive programming.

The half-day Summit, produced by the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), opens with a keynote from IFTA President and CEO Jackie Brenneman and a second keynote from Evan Shapiro, the media analyst known for mapping the modern entertainment landscape across technology, capital, creators, and audiences.

The creator-focused session, “Where the New Hits Begin: The New Rules of Discovery & Audience Building,” runs November 10 from 1:00 to 1:35 p.m. and brings together Tyler Chou, founder and CEO of Tyler Chou Law for Creators and a creator herself at Arq M&A Advisory; Aaron DeBevoise, founder of the creator financing platform Spotter; David Freeman, founder and CEO of Kynetic Media Ventures; and Joel Savitt, founder and CEO of Bamboo Bridge.

DeBevoise’s presence puts one of the Creator Economy’s catalog-financing players in front of an audience built around film and television dealmaking. Spotter has built its model around advancing capital to creators against the value of content they have already produced, letting them invest in higher-end production without waiting on ad revenue to arrive. The panel’s placement inside a Summit otherwise organized around production incentives, IP value chains and the “new studio system” signals AFM treating creator-driven discovery as a comparable force to traditional development and financing pipelines, rather than a side conversation.

The Summit also includes “The New IP Value Chain: How Stories & Storytellers are Finding New Paths to the Screen,” running earlier the same day with United Talent Agency’s Jordan Lonner, Capstone Pictures CEO Christian Mercuri and TFC Management’s Brett Rosen, among others, addressing how source material reaches the screen outside traditional studio channels.

Access to the Summit requires a separate ticket, with capacity limited. It precedes four days of AFM Sessions programming, November 11–14, which will run alongside “The AFM House,” a new track covering innovation and emerging technologies, including AI applications in the screen ecosystem.

AFM takes place at the Fairmont Century Plaza, AMC Century City 15, and The Pavilion. Additional speakers and sessions across all three stages will be announced in the coming weeks.
