Tribe Dynamics Veterans Launch Kin to Bring AI Into Influencer Relationship Management

Five Tribe Dynamics veterans have launched Kin, an AI-powered Influencer Marketing platform designed to help beauty and wellness brands manage creator relationships and analyze social performance.

The company comes from Brit Starr, Kin’s President; Ryan Lee, its CEO; Henry Chen, its CTO; Conor Begley; and Jon Namnath, according to a WWD report. The founding team previously worked at Tribe Dynamics, the Influencer Marketing platform launched in 2012 that helped popularize earned media value, or EMV, as a creator marketing metric. CreatorIQ acquired Tribe Dynamics in 2021.

Kin uses large language models to help brands create, manage, and strengthen influencer relationships at scale. The company has worked with brands including Tower 28, Cocokind, and Tsu Lang Yor, the brand from Troye Sivan.

“Our sweet spot is trust, agility, being AI-native, and the fact that we can build quickly with a bench of smart, sophisticated brands to solve an evolving set of needs in real time,” Starr told WWD.

Managing Creator Relationships at Scale

Kin enters a market that already includes Influencer Marketing platforms such as Traackr, Launchmetrics, Odore, Nectar Social, and CreatorIQ. Its focus is on reducing the administrative work involved in maintaining creator communities while giving brands clearer signals about which relationships need attention.

“Ultimately, the job of the tool is to facilitate creator relationships and strengthen them over time while reducing the amount of administrative work that’s associated with those relationships,” Begley told WWD. Begley also uses Kin through his clean beer brand, Fathers Brewing.

He described a use case in which a brand tracks 500 influencers who are talking about it, assesses their performance and relationship health, and identifies which creators warrant follow-up based on milestones or other context.

Kin also aims to help brands evaluate their social performance against competitors. Starr said the platform emphasizes action, not only insight.

“Actionability is built into everything; it’s not just about what you need to know and contextual insights, but what you can do with them,” Starr told WWD.
