Libsyn Surpasses $112M In Creator Payouts, Drops Monetization Barriers

Liberated Syndication Inc. (Libsyn) has surpassed $112 million in total creator payouts since 2017, with a 40% increase in payments to podcasters during the first seven months of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The podcast hosting platform recently removed its 2,000-download minimum requirement, allowing all creators to access its Automatic Podcast Ads monetization feature regardless of audience size.

“At Libsyn, we believe every creator deserves more than just a platform—they deserve real support to build their audience, own their work, and create a sustainable media business on their own terms,” Brendan Monaghan, CEO of Libsyn, said in a press release.

The company has expanded its Multi-user Management feature to all customer tiers, previously available only to Pro and Enterprise users. This update allows podcast teams to add up to five collaborators per account to streamline production workflows.

Libsyn continues to secure exclusive partnerships with established podcasts, adding “10% Happier with Dan Harris,” “The Jamie O and Mason Ho Show,” and “Stay True with Madison Prewitt Troutt” to its roster in the first half of 2025, alongside renewed deals with “The Viall Files” and “The Newsworthy.”

Monetization Opportunities

The platform’s expansion comes as podcast consumption reaches record levels. According to Edison Research, 55% of Americans now listen to podcasts monthly, with weekly listeners consuming 773 million hours of content—a 355% increase since 2015.

Podcast advertising effectiveness continues to strengthen, with 44% of weekly listeners reporting they purchased products after hearing ads in Q1 2025, up from 34% in Q1 2020. Among monthly podcast consumers, 83% identify as fans of specific shows or hosts, with these dedicated listeners spending nearly 9.5 hours weekly with podcasts.

Libsyn’s monetization features capitalize on this engaged audience, with the company’s ad solutions including both Host-Read and programmatic Automatic Podcast Ads to deliver targeted campaigns for brands while generating revenue for creators.

The company will showcase its hosting, distribution, monetization and measurement solutions at Podcast Movement 2025 in Dallas (Aug 18-21) as a presenting sponsor.
