Kick Partners With Rust For Platform’s First In-Game Drops Feature

Kick is introducing its native Drops functionality on November 13, enabling viewers to earn in-game rewards while watching livestreams. The platform selected “Rust” (developed by Facepunch Studios) as its inaugural partner for the feature, marking a strategic move in its expanding gaming ecosystem.

The new Drops system allows game developers and creators to reward viewers with exclusive virtual items for watching broadcasts. Viewers must link their Kick and Steam accounts to claim rewards during streams.

“Drops marks a pivotal step in bridging gameplay and livestreaming on Kick – fueling a more interactive, rewarding, and connected experience for creators, brands, and audiences,” Ryan Webb, Head of Operations at Kick, said in a statement.

The 10-day PvP event runs November 13-23 and offers exclusive items, including a limited-edition Kick-themed Hazmat suit not available through other channels.

The collaboration comes as Kick solidifies its position among livestreaming’s top platforms. According to Streams Charts data, Kick surpassed 1.1 billion Hours Watched in Q2 2025 (a 28.1% increase from Q1) joining YouTube Live, TikTok Live, and Twitch as the industry’s fourth major platform.

Gaming content now comprises the majority of Kick’s total viewership, making the Drops feature a natural development for its community of 75 million users.

Benefits Extend Across Ecosystem

According to Kick, the integration creates advantages throughout the gaming ecosystem. Game publishers gain a new channel for launching content and driving sales through digital asset distribution. Streamers can offer tangible rewards to increase watch time and build community loyalty.

“Facepunch Studios have been incredible collaborators, and we’re excited to introduce a streamer-led campaign that highlights the strength of creator-driven marketing,” said Oli Tierney, Partnerships Lead at Kick.

Alistair McFarlane, Executive Producer on “Rust” and COO of Facepunch Studios, added, “Bringing this feature to Kick for the first time is a massive step, and we can’t wait to see players rocking these new and exclusive items.”

The announcement was made at DreamHack Atlanta with popular streamer xQc appearing in a Kick-branded “Rust” hazmat suit, underscoring the platform’s emphasis on creator involvement in its partnership strategy.
