Disney has canceled “Love Overboard,” the dating reality series executive produced by Alex Cooper’s Unwell Productions, after a single season, according to Page Six. The nine-episode show, which followed 22 singles competing for a spot on a luxury yacht, premiered on Hulu on March 26.

Sources told Page Six the series “wasn’t finding its audience.” Gabby Windey, known for “The Bachelorette” and “The Traitors,” hosted the show, which marked Cooper’s first unscripted television credit.

A Disney insider told Page Six the cancellation does not signal a broader rift with Cooper. “Disney has a great relationship with Alex and is in development with her on a few projects,” the insider said.

Bloomberg reported earlier in August that Cooper’s Unwell business was shutting down its beverage venture, Unwell Beverage Co., and Cooper left United Talent Agency after more than six years, with reports indicating she is in talks with CAA. Those moves came days after Unwell secured a $500 million pre-money valuation from WTSL, the investment firm led by Patrick Whitesell and Jason Lublin.

Other Unwell Projects Move Forward

Disney’s continued development plans with Cooper point to projects beyond “Love Overboard.” Unwell has a scripted series, “You Deserve to Know,” in development at Hulu starring Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley. Cooper also executive produced and interviewed Miley Cyrus for Disney+’s “Hannah Montana” 20th-anniversary special earlier this year.

Elsewhere in Unwell’s slate, “Let’s Marry Harry,” a dating game show paired with Harry Jowsey, debuted on Netflix earlier this month.

Cooper built her profile as co-host of “Call Her Daddy,” which she took to Spotify in a deal reported at $60 million over three years before later moving the show to SiriusXM in an agreement reported at $125 million.
