Disney Adds Dude Perfect, Dhar Mann and The Try Guys to ‘Created in LA’ Lineup
Disney and creator Jon Youshaei announced a new round of speakers to “Created in LA,” the two-day Creator Economy event set for September 17-18 in Los Angeles, naming Dude Perfect, The Try Guys, Dhar Mann, Jordan Matter, Adrian Per, and Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush to a lineup that already included Zach King, Mindy Kaling, AdamW, Jenny Hoyos and Sam Eckholm.
Disney also detailed programming for Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Asad Ayaz, who will lead a session on paths creators can take into the company through scripted series, features and brand campaigns. Walt Disney Company President and Chief Creative Officer Dana Walden will deliver opening night remarks at the September 17 premiere, and CEO Josh D’Amaro will address attendees the following day at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank.
The event opens with a red-carpet premiere at the El Capitan Theatre, where creator duo Sticks will debut “The Technoblade Movie,” a tribute to the late creator, on the venue’s big screen. Disney said it marks the first time in the theater’s 100-year history that it will host a creator premiere of this kind.
The new sessions announced include Dude Perfect’s Cory Cotton and Garrett Hilbert on building a team over 17 years that has grown the channel to 62 million subscribers and drawn a $100 million investment; Dhar Mann on running a 125,000-square-foot studio with 65 sets and 10 crews filming simultaneously to post five videos a week; and Jordan Matter on how he and daughter Salish generate 390 million long-form views a month and drew 87,000 fans to a single meetup. The Try Guys’ Zach Kornfeld and Keith Habersberger will discuss building recurring shows rather than standalone videos, and Adrian Per, whom Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has called one of the platform’s most influential creators, will cover scaling output without burnout.
The additions build on an event Disney and Youshaei first announced in mid-July, when they said “Created in LA” would bring 350 creators, innovators and industry leaders to Los Angeles. Ayaz framed the event at the time as an extension of Disney’s storytelling history: “Today’s creators are some of the best storytellers reaching generations, building communities and connecting fans around the things they love, and we look forward to welcoming them to Disney for ‘Created in LA.’”
Applications to attend remain open through the Created in LA website.
