Redbull Gives You Wings: How To Become a Brand Ambassador For Redbull

Is Redbull your favorite energy drink? Do you want to be able to promote the brand while having access to premium connections to one of the most famous brands in the world?

Becoming a Redbull ambassador might be the right choice for you. Keep reading to see how you can get involved.

What is a brand ambassador?

An ideal brand ambassador should possess a strong social media presence and a sizable network of connections. They should also be outgoing and enthusiastic and have a preexisting affinity for the brand they will be representing.

Any size creator can be a brand ambassador, but if you already have a following, the brand will likely want to work with you.

Some examples of other brands that use ambassador programs are Princess Polly and Carhart. Maybelline also uses a group of influencers to promote its brand. Sometimes these are large celebrities, such as Taylor Swift, but other times they are micro-influencers with smaller followings.

Unlike a one-time sponsorship where you and a brand work out a deal for a limited amount of posts and content, a brand ambassador a more full-time, permanent position, in which you will likely get paid an hourly salary and receive company benefits like any other employee of the company. However, you still get most of the perks of being a content creator, such as likely being based remotely.

What is Redbull?

Redbull is one of the most globally known brands in the world. With a net worth of over 16 million euros, this Austrian company has made an impact in every corner of the world, as it is sold in over 170 countries.

As of 2019, it is the most popular energy drink with a 38% market share. Created in 1987, they have since sold over a whopping 100 billion cans. They are a marketing global empire, with an emphasis on extreme sports, with a recent shift into E-Sports. Redbull even has a record company based in Los Angeles, California.

They have also had a wide range of celebrity endorsements, including Tyler Blevins, or more commonly known as the Twitch streamer “Ninja”. Blevins has over 18 million followers on Twitch.  Redbull also sponsors Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is an English football player with over 8.6 million followers on Instagram.

What do Red Bull Ambassadors do?

This is not your typical brand ambassador position. Student Marketers, Redbull’s term for their brand ambassadors, are not just promoting the brand on social media, but are actively going to events on college campuses across their region.

According to Redbull’s website, their student marketers represent the brand in a premium way, know the market, build distribution, collect orders, and be able to answer questions about the product for consumers.

Here are more qualities that Redbull expects of their student marketers

You will likely be going to college campuses and events to hand out free samples of Redbull and market the product to the target demographic.

You will be wearing Redbull products, as well as keeping a positive and upbeat personality as you speak to potential consumers and answer questions. Redbull may ask you to create content online, such as posts on your Instagram, Youtube, or even Tiktok about the job and the product. It is important to note that you will be representing the company on your socials, so you should keep brand-friendly even if your posts are not directly about Redbull.

Why should you get involved?

By being involved with this program, you could have connections to some of the biggest sporting events in the world, including Formula 1, the highest class of international racing, in which Redbull sponsors the Grand Prix each year.

Since the program is international, you will be in contact with other creators and influencers from across the globe who could help you grow your brand. Any opportunity to work with a company that will help you shape your social media experience will be beneficial to you as an influencer.

By posting on social media, creating content such as Youtube videos will help you improve your content-creating skills

As a content creator yourself, you should already be an expert at managing your own brand, so this will be a slightly different skill set, yet an important one. Brands want to see that you can promote their product in an efficient, creative way. By being a brand ambassador, you could open the door for many more sponsorships, as it is clear you already have what it takes to work for a brand long-term.

How To Get Involved

When you go to jobs.redbull.com, you will find a list of universities offering this program. Choose the region and university specific to you, and you can get started by filling out an application online.

Since Redbull’s target audience is those 18-34, having brand ambassadors in the younger demographic is important, though there is technically no age limit.

In the United States, you have to be a university student at one of the universities listed. Luckily, there are hundreds of schools partnered with this program, so your college is likely to be involved. If you are not based in the United States, you can still be a student marketer in countries like France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and more. You don’t necessarily have to be a university student, though it depends on the specific position.

If you are not enrolled in one of the chosen schools, you can apply for the Redbull graduate program.

The job application will ask for your resume, education and work experience, and valid driver’s license (as you could be driving long distances).

They also ask you to write a message to the hiring team. Here is where you can talk about your social media experience and how you will be able to represent the brand across your socials to your following.

How much will you make?

According to Glassdoor, Indeed, and other sources, you can make up to $30 an hour as a brand ambassador. This is a stark difference from other brand ambassador programs, which sometimes offer little pay. Of course, this could vary depending on the region, state, or even country you will be working in.

Flexibility is needed for this job, as this is not your typical 9 to 5, so the weekly hours could vary.

What are people saying about working for Redbull?

Micro-Influencer Sydnee Goodman, who has 140 thousand subscribers on Youtube, has spoken about her experience working with Redbull on the Youtube team.

There are also many vlogs from students across the world detailing their positive experience working as part of the “wings team.”

Here are some reviews from brand ambassadors who have enjoyed their experience with Redbull and have even sharpened their social media skills along the way.
