Less Than A Year After Launching, Podspace Becomes Sweden’s Second Biggest Podcast And Ad Network

Podspace, a distribution platform and marketplace for podcasts, has solidified its position as one of the major players in the Swedish podcast industry.

According to the latest data from Poddindex (Kantar Mediafacts), Podspace recorded a 21% growth in unique listener reach during 2023, significantly outpacing the 13% average growth observed across the four major platforms measured, including Acast, Bauer Media, and Swedish Radio.

This expansion has propelled Podspace past the milestone of one million weekly unique listeners, cementing its status as one of the leading podcast platforms in the Nordic region. Podspace CEO Carl Fridsjö attributes this success to the company’s distinctive offering, its strategic decision to focus primarily on serving large enterprise publishers, and a flexible and results-driven approach.

“Rapid growth in a mature and competitive market is a testament that Podspace has a unique offer,” Fridsjö told Podnews. “The key, I think, has been our recent decision to focus the platform and our services primarily towards large enterprise publishers, combined with a flexible and results-driven approach.”

Podspace’s advertising network, Podspace Ads, has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth trajectory. Less than a year after its launch, Podspace Ads has already emerged as Sweden’s second-largest podcast ad network.

That’s due in part to a surge in available ad inventory.

Several of the country’s largest publishers and creators, including Bonnier News, Amedia, Make Sense Media, and NTM, have recently partnered with Podspace Ads, granting advertisers access to their inventory through Podspace’s marketplace.

Podspace’s Director of Sales, Lukas Boo, highlighted the increasing recognition of the company’s ad network among media agencies. “The media agencies have begun to recognize the scale of our ad network and the results we can produce,” Boo stated. “As a result, we naturally become a key component of our customers’ audio campaigns, which is excellent.”

As the podcast market continues to expand rapidly, Podspace’s growth trajectory positions the company as a major player in the Nordic region’s burgeoning podcast and advertising landscape.
