Linktree vs. Short Stack – Feature Comparison for Creators and Influencers

Which link-in-bio service is best for content creators?

Finding the perfect link for your bio can be tricky. After leaving your Instagram page, this is one of the first impressions your potential customers and followers will have. So, you want to make sure you have the best possible link that your followers will find memorable.

Not too long ago, you used to have to update that link every time you had a new Youtube video out. Or, you would have to choose between what to promote – your website or your TikTok.

But these days, most creators have a personalized landing page. A landing page, in digital marketing terms, is a single webpage designed for a specific task. In this case, the landing page would be to show off your brand, and have all of your information formatted to one concise link. This could include your social links, email, online shop, or anything else you want to add.

There are many different link-in-bio tools on the market. Today, we will be looking at Linktree and Short Stack.

Linktree

Linktree is one of the oldest link-in-bio services and by far the most popular.

Created in 2016, Linktree specializes in creating personalized landing pages that format all your links into one convenient list.

With over 30 million users, there’s a reason creators, influencers, and everyday social media users choose Linktree over other major competitors. Linktree is used by some of the most famous celebrities in the world, from Selena Gomez and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, to major companies such as HBO.

What features does Linktree have?

Linktree is one of the easiest-to-use tools. Once you create an account, you simply choose a title for your link and you can start inputting your information.

Here’s an example of what your landing page could look like, from influencer Summer Mckeen.

As you can see, she used a custom background which is one of Linktree’s key features. This allows you to add your personality to your page. You can also add as many links as you want, an icon, change up the color scheme, and add a subscribe button at the top of the page.

Linktree allows all users to have unlimited links on their pages, access to customization, and limited analytics. You can even connect directly to services such as Paypal, Square, and Shopify if you have an online business and want to be able to track your purchases.

Here’s an example of what your analytics could look like on the free plan:

If you want more advanced analytics, updated templates, and the ability to unlock exclusive content, you can subscribe to one of their three pricing plans.

The starter plan is $5 USD a month and allows users to spotlight and schedule links, which is perfect if you have an upcoming promotion. You can even join the Apple or Amazon associates program, which allows you to easily auto-generate affiliate links.

The pro plan is known as the VIP plan and is $9 USD a month. Here is where you can receive commerce analytics, mailing and phone number analytics, and conversion tracking.

The premium plan is $24 USD a month and is mainly for larger businesses. You receive support in 4 hours or less and are given access to exclusive content.

Short Stack

If you ever find yourself confused about how to run a giveaway, look no further.

This next company isn’t just for landing pages. Short stack specializes in creating customizable contests, sweepstakes, quizzes, giveaways, and of course, a link for your bio. This digital marketing agency has it all and might be your solution if you are looking for more than just a landing page.

What features does Short Stack Offer?

Short stack offers you the ability to create custom pages specifically for contests. This is particularly helpful if you find yourself doing giveaways often, which many sponsorships will require you to do.

You can choose between many different templates for these contests, from photo competitions to spinning a digital wheel.

Below are some of the templates you can choose from.

Short stack allows you to have different publishing options as well, from timed pop-up’s that will appear on your website for a limited time, to embedding your page onto another website, you can have full control of how your customers will have access.

Once your contest has been created, you can also choose a winner, create unique coupon codes, and manage all your entries, all from the same dashboard.

You have access to advanced analytics, including views, shares, and clicks on your pages, as well as the ability to gain access to email analytics. You can add multiple team members to the account and you can count on Short Stack support to help you out if you need a custom design that you don’t think you can find on the site.

Even if you are not a professional designer, Short Stack prides itself on being easy to navigate and there is no coding experience required.

Short Stack offers resources, guides, and marketing tips for their customers as well, and has worekd with brands such as Netflix, Live Nation, PBS, and Frontier. So you know you can trust that you are in good hands.

How much does it cost?

Due to being more than just a simple link-in-bio tool, Short Stack is going to cost more than Linktree.

There are 4 different pricing tiers. Business for $99 USD a month, Agency for $249 USD a month, Brand for $499 a month, and Enterprise, which you have to contact Short Stack for directly for a quote.

The business plan allows you to have 10,000 entries for your campaign, random winner selection, website embedding, Entry Transfers via Form Integrations, the ability to enter your contests via social media comments, and have Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter contests, either from hashtags, retweets or comments. However, there is a view limit of 50,000 views on your site in a 30-day period.

The Agency plan has all the features of the business plan, but you are allowed 50,000 entries and 250,000 views, and you can distribute unique coupon codes and prizes. This plan allows you to have a custom domain and removes the Short Stack branding on the landing page.

The Brand plan allows for 500,000 entries, and 2,500,000 views for your website. You are also given access to all the templates and customization options.

The Enterprise plan allows for more than 500,000 entries and more than 2,500,000 website views. You can create your own templates with this plan as well.

So, which one is right for you?

If you are an influencer and you feel daunted by having to run giveaways, Short Stack could be the right option for you.

But if you are looking for a simple link-in-bio service, Linktree will be more up your alley.

While both have great landing page options, Short Stack may be better for larger businesses, and Linktree could be best for the individual creator.
