The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced the inaugural Critics Choice Creator Awards, extending its critics-driven awards program to podcasts, scripted and unscripted digital series, documentary and informational content, lifestyle programming, game shows and sports series.
The CCA represents more than 500 critics and entertainment journalists and has run the Critics Choice Awards for more than three decades, alongside the Critics Choice Documentary Awards, Critics Choice Real TV Awards and Critics Choice Super Awards. The Creator Awards mark its first program built specifically around digital-native formats.
Eligible work must have been published online between January 1 and December 31, 2026. Submissions open October 19, 2026, and close February 1, 2027, following an early submission window that runs through November 16. Nominations will be announced March 18, 2027, with winners revealed April 15, 2027.
The initial category list spans general honors such as “Best Creator of the Year,” “Best Live Streaming Creator” and “Best Viral Video”; podcast categories for audio, video and hosting; genre awards for comedy, drama and news; and dedicated scripted-series categories that split comedy and micro-drama into short-form (under three minutes) and long-form (three-plus minutes) tracks, each with corresponding acting honors. Additional categories cover unscripted and reality formats, documentary and educational programming, lifestyle content including food, travel, relationships and fashion, game shows, and sports commentary.
“As the world of entertainment evolves and migrates onto social media and streaming platforms, it is the job of entertainment critics to move with them,” said CCA CEO Joey Berlin. “We are dedicated to helping entertainment consumers ‘find the good stuff’ as well as helping the best creators get found and appreciated.”
The CCA also produces Celebration events recognizing historically underrepresented communities in film and television, including the Celebration of Black Cinema and Television and the Celebration of AAPI Cinema and Television.
