ClickFunnels Vs. Teachable – Online Course Creation Comparison

Which platform is the best for content creators and online business owners?

If you are a digital content creator and are looking to make some more money, there is no better way to start than to start creating online courses.

When you create and sell your own online courses, you can easily create revenue by sharing skills or coaching on any topic, from HTML design to life coaching.

But it can be difficult to start selling online courses from scratch. That’s why there are many platforms out there to help you manage and sell your courses.

In this article, we will be comparing two sites, ClickFunnels and Teachable, so you can decide what is the best platform for you.

What is ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels is an American online marketing program that helps digital business owners create sales funnels, as well as dozens of other marketing tools, such as landing page builders, online courses, and more.

ClickFunnels is an all-in-one service so you don’t have to rely on third parties applications to handle your marketing or sales.

How much does ClickFunnels cost?

ClickFunnels is a subscription-based service, which means you have to pay to access any of the features.

The pricing plans are listed below.

The basic plan is $147 USD a month. This includes one website, 20 sales funnels, the ability to have just one admin user, 1 free custom domain, and the ability to create 3 online courses.

With those 3 courses, you can have up to 1,000 students. You also receive unlimited workflows, unlimited pages, unlimited products for your page, as well as unlimited email sequences and access to their basic analytics.

The next plan is their pro plan, which is $197 USD a month. Along with everything included in the basic plan, you also receive 100 Funnels, 5 Admin Users per account,

3 custom Domains, and the ability to create and sell 15 Online Courses, with 10,000 Students total. You can also join their affiliate program, gain access to their Liquid Theme editor, and more.

The final plan is the Funnel Hacker plan at $297 USD a month. You can now create up to 3 Websites, as well as have access to Unlimited Funnels. Your account can have up to 15 Admin Users, as well as 9  custom Domains. You can create up to 200 Courses and have 20,000 Students in total. You also receive advanced analytics and API access.

Now that you have picked a plan, how does this program work?

Although there are many ClickFunnels features, today we will just be looking at creating an online course.

If you are new to teaching, you don’t have to create a classroom from scratch. ClickFunnels allows you to use pre-designed templates. Simply add in your media and content and you are ready to start earning money off your course.

Unlike Teachable, there is less of an online-classroom aspect in this platform. The majority of ClickFunnels’ users simply upload media and content to their course and allow their subscribers and followers to watch the course.

Meanwhile, when you use Teachable, you may be uploading quizzes, projects, and homework and creating an online community, this may not be the case with ClickFunnels.

You can choose to “drip” courses to your followers by only releasing certain modules at a time, and having some be behind a paywall.

You can choose your own prices and ClickFunnels has no transaction fees for your online courses, though the fees for the program are higher.

Teachable

What is Teachable?

Teachable is an educational and software company that allows anyone to sell, create, and manage an online classroom, all from the comfort of their home.

There are over 100,000 creators who use Teachable, from experienced educators to brand-new teachers.

Founded in 2014, the company has grown significantly, especially in the past few years with the rise of online learning. Teachers on the site have now made a collective of over $500 million.

How does Teachable work?

Teachable offers multiple different plans for instructors. However, there is a free plan to start you off if you’re not sure where to start.

The free plan allows you to create one online course, though your transaction fees could be anywhere from 1-10%. This means Teachable will be getting a sizable cut of your profits from any course you sell.

You can also have only 10 students in this course, which could be great for beginners, but as your business grows, you will definitely want more students and more courses in order to make the most profit.

You can name your course, manage payments, design a brand, and even create a landing page, all from the dashboard.

(And don’t worry, if you’ve never created an online course before, Teachable has a crash course to explain how to create a unique, engaging classroom.)

Below is what your classroom creation will look like. You can start adding to the curriculum by adding new lessons and sections.

You can add all sorts of media to your course to create a more engaging classroom. This includes video, photo, audio, and even quizzes and exams to test the students on their knowledge. This will mimic that of an actual classroom.

You can also design and customize your classroom with different templates. Here is one example of a template you can choose from.

Remember, it’s important to keep on track with your students and be a good resource for them. Students can review your course when they are finished, so you want to make sure you leave a good impression.

All your communication with your students can be done in your dashboard, which is also where you can manage your sales, track your process, and manage the rest of your business.

How much money will you make?

You set your own prices for your courses, so depending on your plan, the number of students, and the transaction fees, your take-home pay will vary.

However, the average rate of a Teachable instructor is $31 an hour. It’s important to keep in mind how long your classroom will take to build and market, but also the time you spend investing in individual students and their work.

How much does Teachable cost?

While you can always stay on the free plan, there are multiple premium plans that will enhance your experience. In order to make the most money from Teachable, upgrading to a premium plan is recommended. You set your own prices on Teachable, so how much money you make will be decided from there.

Teachable Basic plan is $39 a month. The transaction fee for this plan is 5%.  You can create a private community and create up to 5 separate courses. You are also able to integrate with apps such as MailChimp, Facebook, and Google Analytics so you can promote your courses more rapidly.

Teachable Pro plan is $199 a month. This plan allows you to have 0% transaction fees, which will save you a lot of money. You can also have up to five admin users, and you have the ability to create unlimited courses. This is one of the most popular plans and the one with the best value.

Teachable Business plan is $375 a month and is most recommended for large business owners, not individuals. You can have up to 20 admin users, and you also have access to advanced theme customization, advanced reporting, and priority support.

What platform will you choose?
