AI-Generated Streamer Neuro-sama Becomes Twitch’s Most-Subscribed Channel
AI-generated VTuber Neuro-sama has become Twitch‘s biggest channel, surpassing all human Twitch streamers with over 162,000 active subscribers as of January 2, 2026, according to Cybernews.
Created by developer Vedal, Neuro-sama streams continuously and engages with viewers through chat and singing. The channel’s movements, speech, and gameplay are powered by different generative AI systems designed to emulate a human streamer’s actions and interactions.
The channel’s bio states that Neuro-sama was “built in C# using Unity, while all AI systems were developed in Python.”
The news comes as virtual creator content has achieved mainstream adoption. YouTube data published in April 2025 shows videos related to VTubers have averaged 50 billion views annually over the past three years.
A sample of 300 virtual creators generated over 15 billion views across videos, livestreams, and Shorts in 2024, with one billion views coming from the U.S. alone. YouTube’s 2024 fandom trends report found that 57% of online users aged 14 to 44 watched virtual creator content in the past year.
Human streamer Jynxzi commented on Neuro-sama’s rise: “That is the future of streaming, bro. Dude, I’m bewildered, bro. Game is game, I guess. 158,000 gifted subscriptions to an Artificial Intelligence VTuber that streams non-stop, 24/7 streams.”
