Editorial Standards Policy

Editorial Standards

Last updated: May 2026

Net Influencer is an independent trade publication covering the creator economy, influencer marketing, and social commerce. Our work is read by industry professionals, agency leadership, brand marketers, platform teams, and the creators they serve. The credibility of that work depends on a clear set of standards. This page documents how we operate.

Mission and Scope

Net Influencer covers the business of the creator economy: the platforms creators build on, the agencies and tools that support them, the brands that invest in influencer marketing, and the cultural and commercial dynamics that shape the industry.

We publish news, original analysis, interviews, commentary, and data-driven research. We focus on independent reporting rather than promotional coverage, and we prioritize stories that help our readers make better decisions in their work.

Net Influencer was founded in 2020 by Nii A. Ahene and is published by New Monaco Media.

Editorial Independence

Net Influencer does not publish sponsored content, partner content, or paid commercial collaborations. All articles on the site are produced by our editorial team and represent independent reporting and analysis.

This is a deliberate choice in a vertical where the line between editorial and marketing is often blurred. Our readers are industry professionals who need to trust that our coverage reflects our actual analysis, not commercial relationships.

If we cover a company with which the publication, its parent company, or the author has a business relationship, we disclose that relationship within the article.

Sourcing Standards {#sourcing}

We aim to source information from primary, verifiable sources wherever possible.

Named sources are preferred. When we quote an executive, founder, creator, analyst, or other source, we name them whenever they consent to be named.

Anonymous sources are used when warranted. The creator economy involves sensitive business reporting where named sources may face professional retaliation, breach of contract claims, or reputational harm for speaking publicly. In those cases, we grant anonymity when:

  • The information is materially important to the story
  • The source would face credible professional, legal, or personal risk by being named
  • The source’s identity and credibility have been verified by the reporter
  • An editor has reviewed and approved the use of an anonymous source
  • The reason for anonymity is described to readers (for example, “a source familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss internal business decisions”)

We do not use anonymous sources to make personal attacks or to publish claims we cannot independently corroborate.

Claims are verified. Statistics, financial figures, market sizes, growth claims, and similar quantitative assertions are checked against primary sources. Where we cannot verify a claim independently, we attribute it clearly to the source making it.

Primary documents are linked. When we reference a report, study, filing, press release, blog post, or social media statement, we link to the original source so readers can verify our characterization.

Original research is methodologically transparent. When we publish original data, rankings, or analyses, we describe the methodology, the data source, the time period covered, and any limitations. Where research is conducted in partnership with another organization, we name the partner and describe their role.

Fact-Checking Process {#fact-checking}

Every article published on Net Influencer is reviewed by a dedicated editor before publication. The review covers:

  • Verification of named facts, figures, dates, and quoted material
  • Confirmation that sources have been accurately characterized
  • Review of any claims that could be defamatory, legally exposed, or materially misleading
  • Confirmation of conflict-of-interest disclosures where applicable
  • Review of headlines, subheadings, and social copy for accuracy against the article body

Time-sensitive news may be published with abbreviated review and then expanded and re-verified as the story develops. In those cases, we update the article with additional sourcing and note material changes.

Final editorial accountability rests with Nii A. Ahene, Founder and Managing Director.

AI Usage Policy

Net Influencer uses artificial intelligence tools selectively to support our editorial work. We are committed to transparency about how AI is and is not used.

How we use AI:

  • Research summarization and aggregation of public source material
  • Transcription of recorded interviews and audio source material
  • Headline and subheading variations for editorial consideration

How we do not use AI:

  • We do not publish AI-generated articles. Every article on Net Influencer has a human author who is responsible for the reporting, analysis, and final form of the piece.
  • We do not use AI to generate quotes or fabricate sources.
  • We do not use AI to write about people, companies, or events without human verification of the facts presented.
  • We do not generate AI imagery to depict real people or events without clear labeling.

Human accountability. Every published article has a byline that reflects a human author. That author is accountable for the content, including any AI-assisted portions. An editor reviews and approves all published work.

Disclosure. Where AI plays a significant role in a specific piece (for example, an analysis driven primarily by AI-assisted data extraction), we note that role within the article itself. Routine use of AI tools that do not affect the substance of the reporting, such as transcription or headline variations, is not separately disclosed in each article.

Authors

Articles on Net Influencer are written by named staff writers with demonstrated expertise in the topics they cover. We do not accept guest contributions, contributor submissions, or outside bylines.

Author biographies are publicly available on the site and include relevant background, professional experience, and links to verified social and professional profiles.

We do not publish anonymous bylines.

Conflicts of Interest

We expect our writers and editors to avoid conflicts of interest where possible and to disclose them where they cannot be avoided.

Specific practices:

  • Authors disclose any financial interest in companies they cover, including equity, advisory roles, or paid consulting relationships
  • Authors do not cover companies where they have a direct employment relationship
  • Authors disclose personal relationships with sources or subjects that could reasonably affect coverage
  • When the publication itself has a commercial relationship with a covered company, that relationship is disclosed in the article

Updates, Clarifications, and Corrections

We update articles in three circumstances:

Updates. When new information becomes available after publication, we update the article and note the addition. The dateModified field is updated and a brief note describes what was added.

Clarifications. When an article is not factually wrong but could be misread, we add a clarification note explaining the intended meaning.

Corrections. When an article contains a factual error, we correct it under our Corrections Policy, which describes how errors are flagged, verified, and disclosed.

Typographical errors and minor copy issues are fixed without notice. Substantive changes to facts, claims, or characterizations are always disclosed.
