Talent Manager
About the Role
CANOPY is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Talent Manager to own the day-to-day management of a portfolio of our student-athletes and lead execution of their brand partnerships. The Talent Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned athletes, working closely with brands, university partners, and CANOPY’s leadership to identify opportunities, negotiate deals, and build long-term athlete brand equity.
Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for a dedicated roster of student-athletes, managing their brand partnership pipeline and overall career development
• Identify, pitch, and secure new brand partnership opportunities for assigned talent across fashion, beauty, wellness, and CPG categories
• Lead negotiation of deal terms, contracts, and deliverables on behalf of talent, in partnership with CANOPY leadership
• Own the full campaign lifecycle for assigned athletes, from brand outreach through contract execution and deliverable completion
• Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with athletes, their families, and university athletic departments
• Cultivate and grow relationships with brand partners, agencies, and multimedia rights partners to drive repeat business
• Monitor athlete social channels, content performance, and market trends to surface new partnership opportunities
• Partner with the Brand Coordinator to ensure campaigns are executed on time and meet both brand and athlete expectations
• Advise athletes on personal brand development, content strategy, and broader professional opportunities
• Track and report on athlete deal pipeline, earnings, and partnership performance
• Represent CANOPY at industry events, campus visits, and brand meetings as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 2 - 3 years of experience as a Talent Manager, agent, or in a similar athlete/creator management role
• Background in management within digital media/social or athletics required
• Proven ability to negotiate and close partnership deals
• Strong relationship-management skills, with high emotional intelligence and discretion
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Athlete-facing, with the creativity and instincts to spot a good idea and move quickly to bring it to life
• Good temperament — calm, level-headed, and trustworthy under pressure
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple athlete relationships and deals simultaneously
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial startup environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with HubSpot or similar CRM platforms preferred
• Willingness to travel periodically for campus visits, brand meetings, and events

• Former college athlete
• Interest or background in fashion, beauty, or lifestyle brand partnerships
• Interest or background in collegiate or professional sports, particularly Olympic and women’s sports
• Existing relationships or network within the creator, sports, or fashion industries
• Existing book of business — a roster of creator or Olympic-sport athlete relationships
• NYC/LA preferred
