Job Description

Location:

New York, NY

We’re looking for a Senior Vice President, Content Performance & Growth to help shape how we grow audiences and maximize the value of our content across brands, platforms, and markets.

This role will serve as a strategic connector across Editorial, Product, Consumer Marketing, Advertising, Commerce, and other key functions, championing audience priorities and ensuring alignment with our global and US strategy and KPIs.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader-someone who can see the big picture, bring people together around common goals, and turn data and insights into action.

A deep passion for and understanding of our audiences and core editorial categories is essential, as is the ability to operate effectively at the intersection of editorial, audience development, product, project management, consumer marketing, and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will be both a strategic leader and an expert practitioner-combining analytical rigor with strong creative, editorial and commercial instincts, and translating audience insight into actionable strategies that drive growth, deepen engagement and strengthen the long-term impact of the organization.

This role will also oversee a global team tasked with unified content planning, cross-market content sharing and adaptation, audience and analytics enablement, operational best practices, and the integration of emerging technology and AI into content workflows to maximize brand growth and monetization.

This role is based in New York and reports to the Chief Content Operations Officer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive audience growth by developing strategies and best practices to reach and grow target audiences across O&O, SEO/GEO, newsletters, video, social, and other platforms.
  • Connect content and business goals by partnering closely with Advertising, Consumer, Commerce, Finance, Product, and Content leaders (including Audience Development Brand Leads) to understand how audience and content decisions impact the broader business.
  • Deepen our understanding of audiences across brands, platforms, and markets, translating data and insights into clear strategies, priorities, and KPIs.
  • Improve content performance by identifying creative and distribution practices that increase reach and engagement, with a particular focus on video and emerging opportunities.
  • Maximize the value of our content globally by finding opportunities to share, adapt, and distribute content across markets while keeping it relevant to local audiences.
  • Help the organization make smarter trade-offs by bringing audience and business perspectives to major strategic decisions and cross-functional initiatives-for example, understanding the potential impact of paywalls, distribution choices, or content investment.
  • Build a culture of experimentation by identifying new opportunities, testing ideas quickly, and scaling the approaches that demonstrate meaningful impact.
  • Turn data into action by making performance insights accessible, actionable, and relevant to leaders across the organization-including supporting needs around legal claims and compliance.
  • Create alignment across teams by bringing together stakeholders with different priorities and helping establish shared goals, metrics, and ways of working.
  • Lead global Audience Strategy and Planning & Practices teams, overseeing Audience Strategy & Analytics, SEO, Creative Optimization, Newsletter & Email Operations, Central Content Planning, Content Sharing, and Translation & Adaptation.

What You Bring

  • Significant leadership experience in content, audience development, digital media, publishing, entertainment, or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of how content, audiences, platforms, product, and revenue come together to drive business growth.
  • A strong understanding of the media industry landscape.
  • A track record of using data and insights to improve content performance and audience growth.
  • Excellent proactive storytelling skills, especially to very senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of digital distribution, including O&O, search, social, newsletters, video, and off-platform audiences.
  • Experience with experimentation, optimization, and scaling successful ideas across brands or markets.
  • A global perspective and an appreciation for the balance between scale and local relevance.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to make complex ideas simple and actionable.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to operate effectively across markets and cultures.
  • Experience developing senior talent and building high-performing, collaborative, and globally connected teams.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $300,000 - $325,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
