Social Media Specialist - Mid-level

Leidos has a contingent opening for a mid-level Social Media Specialist to work between its Reston, VA office and the customer site in Falls Church, VA, supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in managing and advancing enterprise and leadership social media communications across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X. The specialist works closely with Government communications professionals to develop creative, audience-focused content; plan and execute social media campaigns; manage engagement; analyze performance; conduct social listening; and recommend emerging tools, platforms, and best practices.

Primary responsibilities

• Support DHA enterprise and leadership social media accounts across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and other Government-approved platforms
• Research and develop creative social media content tailored to platforms, audiences, and communications objectives
• Assist with annual assessments of DHA social media platforms, including performance analysis and recommendations
• Monitor social media trends and platform changes and recommend improvements
• Develop and support social media plans, campaigns, and tactics to increase awareness, engagement, and interaction
• Draft long-range social media plans and ad hoc content plans for emerging issues, crisis communications, or trending news
• Develop, edit, schedule, and manage Government-approved content, including copy, imagery, graphics, and video
• Publish approved content using platforms such as Sprinklr, Sprout Social, or comparable tools
• Monitor channels for comments, messages, and questions and develop approved responses
• Ensure content complies with Government policies and Section 508 accessibility requirements
• Support live-streaming events, including setup and operation of equipment
• Collect and analyze social media data and support weekly, monthly, annual, and ad hoc analytics reports
• Conduct social listening on DHA, TRICARE, and other Military Health System topics and support social listening reports

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media, Advertising, English, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in social media, digital communications, public affairs, strategic communications, or marketing
• Experience managing or supporting organizational, enterprise, executive, or leadership social media accounts across multiple platforms
• Experience developing and executing social media content, campaigns, and editorial plans
• Working knowledge of Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X
• Experience with social media management tools, analytics, and reporting
• Strong writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications

• Prior military or civilian service
• Experience supporting the Defense Health Agency, Military Health System, DoD, or other federal health or defense organizations
• Experience in healthcare communications, military public affairs, or headquarters-level strategic communications

Pay range: $52,000 - $94,000.
