How will you contribute?

As a member of the Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of sharing the work of Canada’s Upper Chamber with Canadians. From creating eye-catching posts about the role of the Red Chamber to live-posting Senate sittings, you’ll help inform and engage audiences. As part of a collaborative team of social media enthusiasts, writers, designers, and content producers, you’ll contribute to creating dynamic and engaging content that brings the Senate's work to life across its digital platforms.

We’re seeking candidates who live and breathe the latest social media trends, have a knack for creativity and have a strong interest in Canada’s Parliament.

Open to

The general public to staff one (1) permanent (full-time) position in the Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate.

In addition to their resume, applicants are required to send a cover letter (maximum one page) highlighting why they are passionate about social media and digital content and how they would like to contribute to the Senate of Canada’s social media team.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of a university degree or college diploma , in communications, journalism or related field of study and/or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience;
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the social media communications field;
  • Experience creating social media content and maintaining accounts on behalf of an organization for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn;
  • Experience with social media management tools like Hootsuite;
  • Experience planning and delivering social media campaigns and measuring results;
  • Experience explaining social media trends and techniques in plain language;
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of Parliament and the Canadian political landscape.
