Overview

Holdens is a Manchester-based creative agency for ambitious brands that want to make impact – not just look good. We combine strategic thinking, genuine creativity and straight-talking honesty to build brand work that stands out, moves forward and earns its keep.

Off the back of some exciting new client wins and a brand-new agency identity, we’re growing our Social & Content team and looking for a Social & Content Manager to help us deliver an ambitious social and content programme across multiple brands and channels. This is a genuinely hybrid role – part strategist, part content creator, part writer – and we’re looking for someone who can move fluidly between developing social strategies and content calendars, picking up a phone to shoot compelling social-first content, and crafting sharp, well-researched copy for social, blogs and emails.

You’ll work across Holdens and a portfolio of our key client accounts spanning healthcare, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, retail and e-commerce, where you’ll spend time on-site capturing content and being the face of their brands on camera. You’ll help ensure the content we produce is on brief, on brand and built to make impact, reporting directly to the Strategy Director and working closely with our Client Experience, Creative and Digital teams.

As part of a collaborative, fast-paced agency, you’ll get involved in a wide range of content and social activity across our four core capabilities:

- Brand Expression – brand strategy, identity, guidelines and AI-ready design systems

- Brand Engagement – websites, apps and digital products

- Brand Exposure – advertising, campaigns and digital marketing

- Brand Experience – experiential, AR/VR and immersive activations

Key Responsibilities

Social Content Creation & Management

- Create and shoot social-first video and static content using a phone or camera (nice to have) – capturing behind-the-scenes moments, product content and brand stories across the agency and key healthcare, beauty, lifestyle, retail and e-commerce accounts

- Spend time on-site at client locations – ideally two to three days a week – to capture content for their social channels including TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts

- Act as one of the faces of the agency and our clients’ social channels, appearing on camera in content where appropriate and helping build an authentic, engaged audience

- Stay ahead of social trends and platform changes, bringing fresh ideas for formats, hooks and content themes that will perform

- Identify content opportunities instinctively – whether in the office, at a client site or at an event – and capture them without being asked

Content Administration & Reporting

- Own and maintain content calendars across Holdens and key client accounts, ensuring content is planned, briefed and delivered on time

- Schedule and publish content across social media platforms using tools such as Hootsuite, Later or Buffer, ensuring posts go out at the right time and in the right format for each channel

- Manage organic social community activity across client and agency channels – responding to comments, managing DMs and inbox messages, and flagging anything that requires escalation

- Upload and publish blog content to CMS platforms such as WordPress, ensuring posts are correctly formatted, tagged and optimised before going live

- Upload and publish product content to e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, ensuring content is correctly formatted, tagged and optimised before going live

- Build, schedule and send email campaigns via Mailchimp, Email Octopus and Klaviyo, working to briefs from the Client Experience and Strategy teams and ensuring campaigns are tested and signed off before deployment

- Maintain and update email databases and distribution lists, supporting segmentation and list management as the agency’s email programme develops

- Track and report on content performance across social, email and organic search using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Trends, platform-native analytics (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn) and email reporting within Mailchimp, Email Octopus and Klaviyo

- Compile regular performance reports for the Strategy Director, Client Experience team and relevant clients, drawing out key insights and making recommendations to improve content effectiveness over time

Copy & Content Writing

- Write high-quality copy across a range of formats including blogs, email newsletters, social captions, case studies, press releases and website copy

- Produce SEO & AI Search-informed blog content that ties into the agency and clients’ wider content and search strategies

- Write direct response email copy for segmented campaigns across the agency and client brands, adapting tone and messaging for different audiences

- Develop social copy for organic and paid channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, tailoring language and format to each platform

- Utilise AI tools such as Claude as a productivity aid – briefing effectively, helping to structure first drafts and refining the output

- Adapt your writing to fit the tone of voice of the agency and client brands, ensuring consistency and quality across every piece of content

- Contribute original content ideas, angles and hooks at the planning stage, not just execution – bringing fresh thinking to briefs rather than simply filling them

Client & Agency Work

- Manage a split workload across Holdens and key client accounts

- Contribute to new business pitches and proposals where content ideas or copy is required

- Attend pitches, client meetings and on-site shoots when required, representing Holdens with professionalism and creative energy

- Support the Strategy Director and Client Experience team in QC’ing and proofreading content before it goes live

Quality, Craft & Collaboration

- Maintain a consistently high standard of quality across every deliverable – an eagle eye for detail is non-negotiable at Holdens, and every piece of content that leaves the building should be something we’re proud to put our name on

- Proof and QC your own work before submitting, and support peer reviews across the wider content output

- Communicate openly and proactively with the Strategy Director, Client Experience team and wider agency, flagging capacity issues or scope risks early

- Stay informed on social, content and copy trends to bring fresh thinking and ideas to the team

- Attend and contribute to morning meetings, weekly planning sessions and content reviews

- Ensure all time is logged accurately on Scoro each day

What We’re Looking For

- 3+ years’ experience in a social or content creator role within a creative, digital or marketing agency, or in-house at a brand

- Comfortable and confident on camera, with experience creating lo-fi social content on a phone or camera (nice to have) – particularly for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels

- Genuine passion for social media and an instinctive feel for what content performs well on each channel

- A great writer with a strong portfolio demonstrating copy across multiple formats and brand voices – blogs, emails, social, website and campaign copy (nice to haves)

- Proficient in using AI tools such as Claude as part of your content workflow, with the ability to prompt effectively and edit outputs to a high standard

- Experience working with CMS and e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WordPress or similar), social scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Later, Buffer or similar) and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Email Octopus, Klaviyo or similar)

- Comfortable using Google Analytics, Google Trends and platform-native analytics tools to track performance and report on content effectiveness

- Comfortable working with Figma, Canva and CapCut for basic asset and video creation

- Familiar with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office suite

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple briefs, deadlines and brand voices simultaneously

- Good energy, a positive, proactive attitude and genuine team spirit – someone who takes initiative and gets things done

- Experience in healthcare, lifestyle, retail or e-commerce sectors is a bonus but not essential
