Short-Form Social Media Content Editor (Remote)
Social Media Short-Form Video Editor (Remote)
Clients: Personal Brands | Automotive | Entrepreneurship | Fitness
Location: United States (Remote)
Employment Type: [Full-Time / Part-Time / Contractor 1099]
Work Schedule: U.S. business hours On
About the Role:
We're looking for a talented Short-Form Video Editor with strong social media instincts to join our team and take ownership of content production for two established personal brands. You'll primarily turn long-form content into engaging, polished short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat, Facebook, and X. This is not simply cutting down long-form content and adding captions. We're looking for someone who understands why certain moments work on social media and can make strong editorial decisions around hooks, pacing, storytelling, retention, captions, B-roll, PNG pop-ups, and visual elements.
The two accounts cover different niches, primarily automotive/business/lifestyle and entrepreneurship/fitness/health & wellness, so the ability to adapt your editing style to different creators is important. Once you learn the clients and their styles, the workflow is very manageable. We're looking for someone who can work independently, stay organized, and consistently produce high-quality content without being micromanaged.
What You'll Do:
• Review long-form content and identify strong short-form opportunities.
• Edit engaging, platform-native videos with strong hooks, pacing, and storytelling.
• Add accurate captions/subtitles, B-roll, PNG pop-ups, and other visual elements when appropriate.
• Make thoughtful editorial decisions around cuts, pacing, and structure.
• Match the established style and personality of each account.
• Manage your editing queue, deadlines, revisions, and posting/scheduling.
• Communicate clearly with the internal and client teams and proactively flag anything that could impact a deadline.
Social Media Judgment:
We're not looking for someone who is simply good at Premiere. We want someone who understands content.
You should be able to watch long-form footage and recognize:
• Where the hook is
• What should be cut
• Where viewers may lose interest
• When a visual is needed
• Which moments have real short-form potential
You don't need to be a social media strategist, but you should understand hooks, pacing, retention, storytelling, and what makes someone stop scrolling.
Clipr Internal Review Process:
Our daily production schedule requires:
3:00 PM CST - All completed clips submitted for internal review
4:00 PM CST - Subtitle review completed
6:00 PM CST - All videos internally approved
You must manage your workflow throughout the day to allow sufficient time for review and revisions. Meeting these deadlines consistently is an important part of the role.
Attention to Detail:
Attention to detail is critical. Our content is published directly to social media and represents our clients' personal brands. You should be diligent about checking subtitle accuracy, names and terminology, caption timing, cuts, B-roll/PNG placement, audio, formatting, and final exports.
Because this is a U.S.-based position, you must be able to reliably work within our U.S. business-hour workflow and meet the daily CST deadlines.
What We're Looking For:
• Based in the United States
• Strong short-form social media editing experience
• Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
• Excellent instincts for hooks, pacing, storytelling, and retention
• Experience turning long-form content into short-form
• Strong caption/subtitle skills
• Ability to use B-roll and visual elements effectively
• Strong attention to detail
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
• Comfortable receiving and implementing feedback
• Strong written communication
• Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
How to Apply:
Please submit:
- Your resume
- A portfolio/reel of your short-form editing work
- 3–5 examples of short-form videos you personally edited
- A brief description of your role in each project
We're especially interested in examples involving talking-head content, interviews/podcasts, long-form-to-short-form editing, captions, B-roll, and personality-driven content.
Editing Test - Paid
If selected after applying, you'll complete a paid editing test using actual content from both accounts.
You'll receive:
• A long-form video from each client
• Example short-form videos showing the style we're looking for
• Relevant editing guidelines
You'll create one short-form video for each client.
We'll evaluate:
• Clip selection and editorial judgment
• Hook and opening
• Pacing and retention
• Caption accuracy and style
• B-roll/visual elements
• Overall polish
• Ability to match the creator's style
• Whether the final edit feels native to short-form social
We're more interested in clean, well-paced edits with strong judgment than excessive effects.
Estimated test time: 1–2 hours total.
