Pay: $42.00 - $48.00 per hour
Work Location: New York, NY. In person
The regular schedule is approximately 40 hours per week. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended production days may occasionally be required based on the production schedule.
About the Role
VX Media is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee production operations during a three-month assignment. The Production Manager will lead projects from pre-production through execution, delivery, and wrap. This person will manage budgets, timelines, vendors, crew, production logistics, and communication across internal and external teams.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, financially detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and experienced in managing multiple fast-moving productions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage productions from initial brief through pre-production, execution, delivery, and wrap.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, workback plans, budgets, and project trackers.
- Create estimates and track approved, committed, and actual production costs.Manage purchase orders, invoices, production cards, petty cash, payroll documentation, and final reconciliation.
- Source, negotiate with, book, and manage vendors, crew, studios, locations, equipment, transportation, catering, and other production resources.Coordinate with creative, account, finance, legal, marketing, and post-production teams.
- Lead production meetings and communicate timelines, responsibilities, risks, and budget changes.
- Manage crew onboarding, deal memos, timecards, releases, permits, insurance certificates, and vendor documentation.
- Supervise the Production Coordinator, Production Assistants, freelancers, and project-based crew as assigned.
- Oversee on-site production, including load-in, shoot or event days, and load-out.Identify potential production risks and develop practical contingency plans.Ensure final expenses, documents, files, and deliverables are complete at project wrap.
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in production management, branded content, advertising, events, media, entertainment, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing production budgets, schedules, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of pre-production, on-site execution, and project wrap.Experience with production accounting, cost tracking, purchase orders, invoices, and reconciliations.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with tools such as Saturation and Lark
- Experience working with New York City crews, vendors, studios, locations, or permitting processes is a plus.
