  Researcher / Junior Producer Role

A part-time research and prep position supporting one of the world’s most listened-to comedy interview podcasts.

About The Show

This is a long-running, top-ranked comedy interview podcast known for freewheeling conversations with a mix of comedians, musicians, athletes, scientists, and internet personalities.

Purpose

Give the show creators more time and creative energy by owning ongoing research, news awareness, and episode preparation so they can walk into every conversation sharp, current, and ready to go deep.

Profile

  • Part-time — a few hours per week.
  • Strong cultural awareness and sharp instincts for what's happening in news, entertainment, and online conversation.
  • Comfortable moving fast across a wide range of topics — one week it might be a viral clip, the next a breaking news story or a guest's niche subject matter.
  • Ideally has a comedic background who can generate interesting, unexpected questions and angles, not just headlines.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working async; not looking for someone who needs heavy management.

Core Responsibilities

  • Track news, trends, releases, and social clips relevant to upcoming conversations and guests.
  • Build prep materials and discussion angles ahead of each episode.
  • Meet weekly with the host to talk through news, ideas, questions, and potential stories.
  • Support run-of-show preparation the day before episodes.
  • Brief the production team afterward on key topics, creative directions, and useful clips or references to have on hand for the recording.

What Success Looks Like

  • The host walks into tapings with sharper, more specific material than he'd have found on his own.
  • Guest conversations go deeper because prep surfaced an angle worth asking about.
  • The host spends less time doom-scrolling for material and more time creating.
  • Brings a strong comedic take on current events or guest-specific news
