Freelance Podcast Host
Remote | Flexible Schedule | Ongoing Contract Opportunities
MarketScale is building a roster of sharp, curious podcast hosts who know how to turn an interview into a conversation people actually want to hear.
Maybe you already host your own podcast, create interview content for YouTube or regularly sit down with interesting people on camera. You’re comfortable behind a mic, you know how to keep the energy moving and you can tell when an unexpected answer is worth following.
The best hosts make it look effortless, but they’re doing a lot beneath the surface: listening closely, learning quickly, asking smart follow-ups and helping guests get beyond their usual talking points.
About MarketScale
MarketScale is a media platform and publisher focused on the B2B world. We work with companies and experts across technology, healthcare, education, manufacturing, energy, transportation, food and beverage, retail and more.
Our job is to turn real expertise into media people actually want to watch, listen to and share.
That means you’ll get to talk with fascinating people about businesses, technologies and ideas most people never get to see up close.
The Role
As a MarketScale host, you’ll be matched with remote podcast episodes, executive interviews and other guided conversations based on your availability.
We’ll give you the context you need on the company, guest and topic. You’ll bring the curiosity, personality and instincts that make the conversation worth watching.
You might interview:
- A CEO about where an industry is headed
- An engineer breaking down a technology most people don’t understand
- A healthcare leader navigating a major shift in patient care
- A founder sharing what it really took to build a company
- A customer talking through a real-world challenge
- An expert with a strong point of view on what’s changing in their market
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room. You need to know how to bring the most interesting conversation out of the person sitting across from you.
What You’ll Do
- Host remote video and audio podcast interviews
- Interview executives, founders and subject-matter experts
- Get up to speed quickly on unfamiliar industries and topics
- Prepare using research and briefing materials provided by our team
- Ask thoughtful opening questions and strong follow-ups
- Spot the interesting part of an answer and know when to dig deeper
- Keep conversations natural, energetic and on track
- Help guests feel comfortable without making the interview feel rehearsed
- Occasionally moderate conversations with multiple guests
- Lead guided interviews that uncover stories, opinions and ideas for additional media
- Share brief post-session notes when helpful
Who We’re Looking For
We’re especially interested in people who already have experience hosting conversations in formats like:
- Podcasts
- YouTube shows or interview series
- Digital media
- Livestreams
- On-camera interviews
You should be comfortable talking with accomplished people without being intimidated by them, and curious enough to have a great conversation about something you may not have known much about yesterday.
Strong hosts tend to be:
- Naturally curious
- Excellent listeners
- Quick on their feet
- Conversational rather than overly scripted
- Warm, engaging and confident
- Comfortable asking a simple question when something needs clarification
- Good at identifying the part of an answer the audience will care about
- Prepared, dependable and easy to work with
What Makes This Different
This is flexible contract work, not a full-time studio role with a fixed broadcasting schedule.
You’ll share your availability and can be matched with sessions that fit your schedule. Some hosts may work with us occasionally, while great hosts with strong availability may receive recurring opportunities.
You’ll also get access to an unusually wide range of industries, companies and people. If you love learning new things, meeting interesting guests and creating genuinely good conversations, you’ll probably enjoy this.
Technical Requirements
You should have:
- A professional-quality microphone
- A quality webcam
- Strong lighting
- A clean, professional background
- Reliable high-speed internet
- A quiet recording environment
- A computer suitable for remote recording
You must be comfortable appearing on camera and available for at least some sessions during U.S. business hours.
How to Apply
Skip the long cover letter. We’d rather see you on camera.
The first step is submitting a short video through MarketScale Studio. Tell us about your hosting experience, the kinds of conversations you enjoy and your general availability.
We’d also love to see your natural on-camera style and, if available, the home podcast or recording setup you typically use.
Submit your video here: MarketScale Studio Application
Please also include:
- Links to two to four examples of you hosting, interviewing or moderating
- The industries or topics you most enjoy discussing
- Your general availability
- Your location and time zone
- Your typical hourly or per-session contract rate
- A link to your LinkedIn profile, podcast, YouTube channel or professional website, if available
Strong candidates may be invited to a short live audition using a topic provided shortly beforehand.
We’re not looking for the biggest personality. We’re looking for someone who can sit down with a person who has something worth saying and turn it into a conversation worth hearing.
