Editorial Director
Editorial Director
WXO | World Experience Organization | London
Journalism. Trend forecasting. Multi-platform publishing. World-class event programmes.
We're looking for someone with outstanding editorial judgement.
Someone who can spot emerging trends before everyone else, investigate what's really happening, and write about it with the intelligence, clarity and authority of a first-rate business journalist.
Think The Economist meets the Experience Economy – with a passion for experiences, culture, creativity and business.
Someone who wants to define and lead one of the 21st century’s leading ideas and sectors – the IRL, real world sector that reflects post-materialism, harnesses the power of AI and creates human happiness and generates jobs and profit.
WXO is a global community of experience leaders, designers, creators and innovators. We bring together the people shaping the future of how we spend our time.
We want someone who can help define the intellectual agenda for this industry – and bring it to life across publications, platforms and live experiences.
What you'll do
1. Spot the future.
Identify the trends, innovations, technologies and business models changing the Experience Economy. Distinguish meaningful shifts from hype. Understand what's happening, why it matters and what's coming next.
2. Write brilliantly.
Produce incisive journalism, analysis, interviews, research and thought leadership that busy, intelligent people actually want to read. Make complex ideas accessible, compelling and commercially relevant.
3. Exercise outstanding vision and editorial judgement.
Know which stories matter, which don't, and how to turn a complex subject into a compelling argument. Commission, challenge, edit and improve the work of others. Have the confidence to develop an original point of view.
4. Understand the business – and the creative.
Explore the economics of experiences: investment, profitability, growth, real estate, technology, changing consumer behaviour and emerging business models. Connect creative, cultural and technological developments to their commercial implications.
5. Think once. Publish everywhere.
Great ideas shouldn't live in just one format. You'll embrace COPE — Create Once, Publish Everywhere — turning original research, interviews and insights into compelling content across multiple platforms.
That might mean:
• A sharp business analysis becomes a newsletter, LinkedIn post, short video, podcast discussion or visual explainer.
• An interview becomes an article, video clips, social content and an on-stage conversation.
• An emerging trend becomes a research report, executive briefing, debate and session at London Experience Week.
• An exceptional event conversation becomes useful content that reaches people long after the event.
You'll understand the strengths of writing, audio, video, visual storytelling, newsletters, social and live experiences — adapting the storytelling to each medium rather than simply reproducing the same material.
The ambition: maximum intellectual impact from every great idea. Not more content for its own sake, but better thinking, brilliantly expressed, reaching more people.
6. Shape extraordinary programmes.
Turn ideas and insights into outstanding conversations, speakers and programmes for London Experience Week and WXO's global community.
Find the thinkers, innovators and provocateurs who have something genuinely interesting to say. Develop compelling themes, original formats and conversations that move the industry forward.
7. Experiment relentlessly, including with AI.
Be genuinely excited about running experiments, with emerging technologies.
Use the latest tools to transform research, reporting, editing, production, repurposing and distribution. Experiment with new workflows and formats.
Understand where AI makes editorial work faster and better — and where human curiosity, judgement, originality and creativity remain essential.
8. Build WXO's authority.
Help make WXO the essential source of intelligence, insight and ideas for the global Experience Economy – and all its 24 core sectors.
Develop a distinctive editorial voice, build an engaged audience and ensure our work has influence well beyond our existing membership.
Who you are
You’ll have a degree from a top university and a background in journalism, editing, business writing, research or trend forecasting.
You might have worked for a respected publication, a research and foresight organisation, or built an independent editorial platform.
• An exceptional writer, editor, communicative. Clear, incisive, compelling. You know how to make an argument and tell a story.
• A killer trend forecaster. Curious, perceptive, evidence-led. You spot connections others miss.
• Commercially astute. You understand how businesses work, how industries change and why emerging trends matter.
• Culturally engaged. You love art, entertainment, design, hospitality, technology and experiences.
• A modern multi-platform publisher. A journalist at heart, but comfortable translating ideas into different formats and channels.
• AI-curious and experimental. You're already using emerging tools and constantly exploring what's next.
• An editorial leader. You take ownership, make decisions and raise standards.
• A product thinker. You’re open to crafting experiments, making mistakes, and following the lean ‘build-measure-learn’ approach.
Above all, you are intellectually curious, have strong opinions supported by evidence, and ask excellent questions.
You understand that a brilliant event programme starts with brilliant editorial thinking.
Who this probably isn't for
If your main experience is managing brand content calendars, social media campaigns, SEO content or corporate communications, this is probably not the role for you.
We're looking for someone whose first instinct is journalistic rather than promotional.
Someone who wants to discover what matters, understand why, and explain it brilliantly.

Location – 4-5 days a week in office, in a very nice coworking place in Hammersmith, London.
How to apply
1. Three examples of your best work. Writing, editing, video, research or trend analysis. Show us what you're proudest of.
2. One emerging trend you believe will transform the Experience Economy in the next five years — and why.
3. One example of multi-platform thinking. Show how you've turned a strong idea into different formats, or explain how you would.
4. How you're using AI today. Tell us which tools you're experimenting with and how they've changed your work.
5. Email hello@worldxo.org with Red Berries Fly to Mars in the subject line.
We care more about the quality of your thinking, judgement and work than your previous job title. This could be your next step up or a sideways move into an exciting industry and an organization seeking to define the future of the Experience Economy.
