OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Director of Affiliate & Influencer Marketing to build the next phase of Canopy's creator and publisher strategy. We are looking to build an affiliate engine at scale: a disciplined, measurable program designed to recruit, activate, retain and grow hundreds to thousands of creators and publishers across wellness, parenting, non-tox, beauty, biohacking, and adjacent wellness communities. You will work with the existing team to grow the program based on the existing foundation already put in place. You will lead the strategy and execution for creator and affiliate sourcing, tiering, contracting, commissions, product seeding, content activation, TikTok creator partnerships, affiliate performance, retention and measurement across channels. This is a high-ownership leadership role for someone who has already built creator or affiliate programs at scale and knows how to turn creator relationships into a durable, profitable revenue channel.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a team of influencer and affiliate marketers, bringing leadership and discipline with an eye towards efficiently scaling the influencer and affiliate part of the business. Own the creator affiliate program and its operating structure.
  • Work with the team to establish targets and forecasting for all key metrics including revenue, EMV/impressions, commissions, fees, and overall program profitability.
  • Own the total P&L for the Influencer & Affiliate program, creating and maintaining budgets for product samples, paid activations, commissions, etc.
  • Work with the team to hone performance reporting, driving insights that will develop the influencer & affiliate channel into a key growth driver for Canopy. Establish clear reporting around core KPIs including active creators, content production, revenue, gross profit and program contribution margin.
  • Consistently evaluate and iterate upon program process and underlying technology. Lead the team through platform selection and work with internal systems team to ensure smooth integration.
  • Help the team to establish a creator tiering framework defining qualification, benefits, expectations and advancement.
  • Develop strategies to retain and grow Canopy's highest-performing creator relationships.
  • Set strategy & guidelines for affiliate platform administration, including links, coupons, commission rules, fraud controls, payouts and reporting. Establish and enforce FTC-compliant disclosure standards.
  • Own creator rate structures and standardized agreements in partnership with Legal.
  • Manage and oversee negotiations involving compensation, commissions, usage rights, exclusivity and termination.
  • Lead the team in developing best practices for affiliate support and growth including creator briefs, product education, and contracting & compliance.
  • Ensure creator database and other tools are robust, regularly updated and evolved, and fully utilized by the team.
  • Create and lead strategies for content amplification and whitelisting in partnership with paid media team.
  • Genuine interest in collaborating with channel managers and other digital marketing teams (paid media, lifecycle, SEO, AEO etc.) to share learnings and ensure insights from the influencer/affiliate program inform the broader marketing strategy, and vice versa.
  • Expert knowledge of the creator and media landscape beyond affiliate platforms alone, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, traditional publishers, and other emerging platforms where creators and affiliates are building audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years of experience building and managing influencer, affiliate or creator programs that have scaled rapidly.
  • Proven track record of growing and developing a high performing influencer/affiliate marketing team. Experience managing third party agencies and tech platforms.
  • Experience developing plans and forecasting for all influencer & affiliate budget line items including revenue and all expenses (product gifting, commissions, fees, paid media spend, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and evolve processes and systems in a scrappy and efficient way.
  • Proven tactics for driving top and bottom line growth in influencer marketing programs.
  • Hands on experience administering affiliate and influencer platforms such as AWIN, ShopMy, Superfiliate, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing creator and/or publisher agreements involving usage rights, exclusivity, commissions, and termination provisions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and team management, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience with wellness, baby, beauty, family, or adjacent categogry preferred.

PREFERRED / BONUS EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with card-linked offers or other tactics for driving offline purchases into trackable online attribution (or vice versa).
  • Experience managing contracts and relationships with talent agencies representing creators, rather than working with creators directly.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Associates or Levanta for Amazon-side affiliate and influencer programs.
