TE TŪRANGA I THE ROLE

We are looking for a Digital and Social Media Executive - Sport to bring Sky Sport’s social channels to life through distinctive, platform-native content that connects fans with the moments, stories and talent they love.

In this hands-on creative role, you’ll plan, capture, edit and publish high-quality sport content across our social platforms. Working under the strategic and creative guidance of the Performance Marketing Manager - Social, you’ll help turn major live moments, sports rights, talent access and original ideas into content that grows audiences, deepens engagement and supports customer acquisition.

You’ll be a fan-amongst-fans who lives and breathes sport, understands social platforms and knows how to move quickly without compromising accuracy, tone, rights or quality. From directing athletes and presenters to creating short-form video, supporting live event coverage and using performance insights to improve future content, you’ll help maintain a strong creative standard across the Sky Sport social portfolio.

This role will include live and reactive sport coverage, including occasional on-site and after-hours activity, so flexibility and sound editorial judgement are important.

NGĀ HAEPAPA | ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, shoot, edit and publish social-first sport content across formats including short-form video, live content, graphics, photography, interviews and emerging platform formats
  • Plan and prioritise the weekly social content calendar around major sporting moments, campaigns, rights commitments and always-on fan conversation
  • Lead social-first shoots with athletes, presenters, creators and sporting talent, including shaping interview approaches, scripts and treatments
  • Deliver live and reactive social coverage of priority sporting events, making timely editorial decisions as moments unfold
  • Publish and optimise content across relevant channels, tailoring edits, copy, thumbnails, metadata, timing and calls to action for each platform and audience
  • Use audience insight and performance data to refine creative choices, formats, publishing decisions and future content development
  • Work closely with Digital Video, Production, Programming, Marketing, Growth, Commercial and rights teams to access footage, align priorities and deliver effective social-first creative
  • Build productive relationships with talent, rights holders, clubs, teams and representatives while respecting access, approvals, sensitivities and time constraints
  • Maintain organised workflows, templates, asset management, version control, captioning and delivery to platform specifications

NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO I WHAT YOU WILL BRING

We love what we do and are looking for someone who shares our passion for sport, storytelling and social content. You’ll bring a strong creative point of view, excellent editorial judgement, confidence working with talent and the ability to deliver quality content at pace.

  • At least 4 years’ experience creating social-first or digital content in sport, media, entertainment, publishing, an agency or a similarly fast-paced environment
  • A strong portfolio of platform-native work and proven ability to take ideas through scripting, shooting, directing, editing and publishing
  • Strong shooting and editing skills across cameras and mobile capture, with advanced capability in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro and Photoshop
  • Deep understanding of social platforms, short-form video, audience behaviour, publishing best practice and content optimisation
  • Sound editorial judgement, excellent written communication and close attention to accuracy, tone, rights and detail
  • Confidence working with athletes, presenters, creators or other high-profile talent, and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate effectively and deliver calmly during live or rapidly changing events
  • Experience with live sporting events, social formats or series, graphic design, motion graphics or photography would be advantageous
