Duties & Responsibilities:

Editing & Creative Ownership

  • Edit branded, campaign, and social-first content from assembly through final delivery.
  • Own decisions around story structure, pacing, rhythm, shot selection, transitions, music, and visual flow.
  • Take end-to-end creative ownership of select projects, from initial concept and creative development through production, post-production, and final delivery.
  • Adapt the original storyboard and creative direction when actual production footage requires a different approach.
  • Proactively identify creative opportunities and weaknesses, proposing and executing solutions rather than relying solely on prescribed edit directions.
  • Balance internal creative vision and objectives with client feedback and needs to ensure every project is delivered at the highest creative standard and to client satisfaction.


Creative Problem-Solving

  • Identify missing coverage, weak transitions, continuity issues, pacing problems, and other gaps in production footage.
  • Develop solutions through restructuring, alternative footage, reframing, graphics, motion, VFX, sound design, and AI-generated content.
  • Determine when production gaps can be solved creatively in post versus requiring pickups or additional assets.
  • Use post-production to elevate the final content beyond a straightforward execution of the storyboard.
  • Protect creative vision and storytelling while responding to client feedback in ways that address their concerns and satisfies their internal requirements.


AI-Driven Post Production

  • Hands-on proficiency with generative AI tools for image and video creation is required.
  • Use AI to generate or enhance visual elements, extend shots, create transitions, fill production gaps, develop supplemental footage, and support creative experimentation.
  • Integrate AI-generated assets naturally with live-action footage and traditional post-production workflows.
  • Understand prompting, image-to-video, video-to-video, generative fill/extension, and AI-assisted post workflows.
  • Continuously test emerging AI tools and introduce relevant techniques into the team’s post-production workflow.


Social & Visual Trends

  • Stay current with evolving trends across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Understand contemporary hooks, pacing, transitions, typography, sound, visual language, and storytelling structures.
  • Ensure content feels current and platform-native while maintaining premium brand standards.


Post-Production Coordination and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Directors, Producers, Creative Directors, VFX artists, colorists, motion designers, and sound teams.Manage multiple edits, versions, aspect ratios, and deliverables.
  • Maintain organized and professional post-production workflows.
  • Participate in creative reviews and clearly communicate the rationale behind editorial decisions.
  • Proactively work with production and creative teams to find thoughtful, creative and efficient solutions to client feedback or changes during post production edit cycle.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional editing experience in advertising, branded content, social, fashion, beauty, or related fields.
  • Strong portfolio/reel required.
  • Demonstrated portfolio examples using generative AI in professional creative work are required.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Strong working knowledge of After Effects, Da Vinci Resolve and broader post-production workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with current AI image/video generation and AI-assisted editing workflows.
  • Exceptional understanding of pacing, rhythm, music, storytelling, and visual composition.
  • Strong knowledge of current social media trends and platform-specific creative styles.
  • Strong creative judgment and ability to independently identify and solve visual problems.
  • Ability to work efficiently across multiple projects and tight production timelines.


What Defines This Role

This is not an execution-only editing position.

The Creative Editor is expected to take creative ownership in post-production, understanding the original vision, assessing what was actually captured, identifying what is missing, and using editing, AI, and creative problem-solving to bridge the gap and deliver the strongest possible final content.
