Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per year

Location: London

Working arrangement: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office

About the opportunity

Via is partnering with a leading UK student accommodation provider to recruit a Content & Social Media Executive for its London marketing team.

The business operates more than 80 student accommodation sites across the UK, with a strong focus on creating communities and experiences around student life, not simply providing somewhere to live.

This is a creative, hands-on role where you'll help bring the brand to life across TikTok, Instagram and other social channels, creating content that genuinely connects with a student and Gen Z audience.

You'll be involved in everything from coming up with ideas and filming short-form video to writing social copy, covering events and analysing which content performs best.

The company already produces student-focused editorial content covering university life, moving away from home, events, city guides and lifestyle topics, giving you plenty of opportunities to turn what's happening across its student communities into engaging social content.

What you'll be doing

  • Create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram and other social platforms
  • Plan, film and edit short-form video content, including Reels and TikToks
  • Write engaging social captions and other short-form copy
  • Develop creative ideas that resonate with students and Gen Z audiences
  • Manage and maintain the social media content calendar
  • Support the day-to-day management of social channels
  • Attend student events and accommodation sites to capture content
  • Turn resident experiences, events and student stories into engaging social campaigns
  • Create content around university life, student cities, lifestyle and accommodation
  • Identify emerging social trends and find relevant ways for the brand to participate
  • Work with the wider Marketing team on campaigns, promotions and key student booking periods
  • Repurpose blogs, guides and campaign content across social channels
  • Support influencer and creator collaborations
  • Encourage and source user-generated content from students and residents
  • Engage with the online community through comments and conversations
  • Monitor social performance and identify which content formats are working
  • Track engagement, reach, follower growth and other key metrics
  • Use performance insights to improve future content
  • Help maintain a consistent brand tone and visual identity across channels

What we're looking for

  • 1–2+ years' experience in social media, content marketing or digital marketing
  • Hands-on experience creating content for TikTok and Instagram
  • Confidence filming and editing short-form video
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • A good understanding of what engages Gen Z audiences
  • A strong eye for visual content and storytelling
  • Good knowledge of current social media trends and formats
  • Confidence generating your own content ideas
  • Experience using tools such as Canva, CapCut or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage a content calendar
  • An understanding of social media analytics and engagement metrics
  • Confidence working both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to appear in content occasionally where appropriate
  • Flexibility to visit accommodation sites and attend events to capture content

Experience within student marketing, lifestyle, hospitality, travel, property, consumer brands or youth-focused businesses would be useful, but isn't essential.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate their creativity through a portfolio, personal social channels, university projects, freelance work or previous brand content.

Why apply?

  • £30,000–£35,000 salary
  • Hybrid working in London
  • Creative ownership across major social channels
  • Opportunity to create content for a large Gen Z/student audience
  • Plenty of real-world content opportunities through student events, communities and locations across the UK
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 with service
  • Additional day off for your birthday
  • Annual discretionary bonus
  • Pension matched up to 8%
  • Private medical insurance or cash plan
  • Life assurance
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Season ticket loan
  • Annual leave purchase scheme
  • Electric car scheme
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Volunteering days
  • Employee discounts and cashback offers

If you're creative, social-first and know how to turn everyday moments into content people actually want to watch and share, this is a great opportunity to develop your career with a major student-focused brand.
