Excel Sports Management Names Ryan Orozco Head Of Digital Media Talent

Excel Sports Management has hired Ryan Orozco as Head of Digital Media Talent, a newly created role focusing on the agency’s expansion into digital creator representation. Orozco joins Excel after nearly eight years at WME, where he led the Digital Media division’s sports portfolio.

He will oversee Excel’s work across YouTube, podcasting, and branded content, leading strategy and representation for creators and athletes at the intersection of sports, media, and culture.

A USC (University of Southern California) graduate and former collegiate football athlete, Orozco brings experience in brand consulting, talent procurement, sponsorship sales, endorsements, and marketing strategy to his new position.

At WME, he supported a client roster that included digital and athlete creators such as Deestroying, Good Good Golf, Overtime Megan, Kenny Beecham, and Frank Michael Smith. His experience spans owned media, brand partnerships, and crossover storytelling between traditional sports and emerging digital platforms.

The digital media offering joins Excel’s existing broadcast and speaker representation services, designed to help clients expand their opportunities off the court and develop post-playing career opportunities. Orozco will sit within Excel’s Talent Representation practice and be based in the agency’s Los Angeles office.

Agency Growth Amid Increasing Valuations

The hiring comes as Excel Sports Management navigates new market developments. According to recent Financial Times reporting, Goldman Sachs is nearing a deal to buy a majority stake in Excel at a valuation approaching $1 billion.

Excel Sports Management represents high-profile clients, including Tiger Woods, Caitlin Clark, and Derek Jeter. The agency was founded by sports agent Jeff Schwartz, who left IMG in 2002, and was later joined by former IMG executives Casey Close and Mark Steinberg.

The agency has offices in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Charlotte, Geneva, and London, and is a three-time winner of Sports Business Journal’s “Best In Talent Representation and Management” award.
